About
"A talented troupe of Korean performers treats Cookin' audience to a taste of Culinary lunacy-sliced and diced to percussive perfection." - Playbill, Minetta Lane Theater - NANTA premiered in 1997 and is the longest running show in Korean history. This electrifying 90-min show, on the comically-charged efforts of four cooks who are tasked with preparing an entire wedding banquet in just one hour, is one of Korea's most popular musicals of all time. Since its first performance, this world famous non-verbal performance made a record of 20% above full capacity at the theater driving the largest number of audience in Korean history.

Neighborhood: Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighborhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighborhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighborhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.

I give 4 stars for the the performers' energy and engagement. Not 5 star because I feel there are too many unnecessary scenes one being the drumming scene which seems to take forever everytime it starts. Seems like they are just killing time with the drumming!

Plus, I don't know what they do with the ingredients or food they cooked on the show but if they throw it, that is a huge waste of food EVERYDAY 4 times a day! Which is how many times the show runs I think. Food wastage is NOT COOL!

Other than that everything was good.

This is the third time I've seen this show and it just keeps getting better! The cast are hilarious, no Korean language skill is needed, it's interactive and it's a fun 75 minute show. Well worth the trip and a must see while in Seoul!

Tips for booking:
Book online to ensure you get tickets as they are often sell-outs (despite having 3 shows almost daily). 2pm shows often have discounts up to 40%. It's important to choose great seats (front seats get some interaction with the performers - I shall not divulge further).

The show is excellent! It is very professional, entertaining, vibrant and full of variety. Book online in advance and you get to pick your seat and will be given a 15% foreigner discount. We sat in the front row, on the second level, in the middle, seats 8,9 & 10 and had a perfect view of the show. The best seats in the auditorium. If you want to be involved in the action of the show, which has audience participation, then sit on the 1st floor. There are only 5 performers, but their talent, skills and energy are amazing. I have seen shows in NY on Broadway & shows in Las Vegas and this show is up there with the best! You will have fun seeing this show.

Two lucky factors here: I booked our tickets online a few weeks before our trip (read cheap!). The theater was a short walk away from the hotel.
The Korean brand of humor is cute! Funny characters, cool costumes and props, etc, Did not expect to see many elements of entertainment here: martial arts, dance, traditional, light drama (!) and of course comedy. Inviting the audience to interact was very effective too!
Watch it people and have a good laugh!!! I did!!!!

This is a rainy day sub-par attraction at best. If you've been to any theatre festivals in any part of the world, you'll be severely disappointed by this loud and vaudeville slapstick physical comedy based non-spectaculare. In the top 100 attractions, maybe. But no way does it deserve to be #1.

What a fun show! The concept is truly unique and unlike anything we've ever seen before. If you are seated at the front rows, be prepared to be part of the show! We truly enjoyed the experience. Zero fluency in Korean required. Claiming the tickets (we bought ahead of time online) was hassle-free. The theatre building (right at the heart of Myeongdong) is easy to locate and is accessible by public transport.

This is an absolute must see. Fantastic story, beautifully executed. Extremely talented actors who are incredible musicians as well - the percussion is the best, heart and leg thumping. The theater is small and intimate. Filled to the brim with joie d'vivre, this is a must see.

Reservations are recommended. We were able to 2 seats an hour before the 5 pm show on a Sunday but we were lucky as the theater was at least 90% full

A slapstick comedy with drumming and dancing. It's not dialogue heavy, which is nice. My four kids, ages 3 to 11, loved it, as did our friend (kid at heart). My husband and I liked it, but what made it best was the others' reactions. These cheaper tickets, for the S section, got us seats up on the top level, but it didn't bother me once the show started. At least they're in the front of the top level. So fun, it's a bummer you can't take photos. The actors did a fabulous job. The girl needs to cover up, she'd burn her belly if she were really cooking. And really, the less sexualizing of females in the world the better. Overall my feeling was that it's very FUN.
