the cathedral has been rebuilt several times. During the Soviet years it was used as theater after several failed attempts by the city's leader to destroy the structure. Not special place for me, just passed by it to go to freedom square.

This is about an hour or so away from old town tbilisi. The best day to go here is on a weekday. During the week end there are more people for sure.

For me it is not a must see place though it is rich in history. You have the option to skip this place, well that's just me.

This church is perfectly located at the top of a small hill at a corner of the river. It was under repair when I was there (til September 2016), but you can see the interior which is very nice.

This cathedral is just one similar to the other churches in Tbilisi or Georgia. This is located in the old town very near to other attractions. Good one to spend time

Standing on the edge of a precipice with the River Mtkvari below, the Metekhi Church stands out in this part of Tbilisi, and rightly so. This old church building has an interior that shares its' history with the visitor and the smell of incense mixed with the richness of the icons and the low light level all work well together...
