The cars run every 20 minutes so it can get a bit backed up and crowded. It was around 34 lark for a return trip for 2, but instead of riding down we got a bolt (which I’d recommend for a new viewpoint of the area and it’s a nice drive and only costs about 16 lari). Definitely worth stopping for a drink at the restaurant at the top to enjoy enjoy the view. It’s worth waking around the amusement park as well - lots of interesting things to look at and good viewing areas. I’d recommend around sunset as it’s not too hot and also it’s gorgeous to see the sky change colors from up there.

The lower station may be too steep to reach for very young kids. We took a taxi from old town, also in view of hot weather. On the mountain the temperature was good 5 degrees lower, great, with lots of shadow under pine trees and very nice pine smell. The attractions are for kids of all ages but do not expect anything above average in any western european park.
There are though lots of various cafes, which is nice.
Note that for strange reasons the entry to some attractions must be paid via a deposit on a the same card as for the funiculor, while for others the entry ticket are sold at the attraction entrance. There are only 2-3 kiosks to recharge the card.
The funiculor runs every 20 minutes. The restaurant at the upper station has a magnificent view but looked really like a typical tourist crowded place to be avoided.

Visited during winter and the place was very quiet, although some of the stores/rides seemed open.

Mainly visited to get a great view over Tbilisi and have a walk, which it definitely served its purpose for as a great viewpoint.

I’m sure it would be a nice choice for families in the warmer months, although quite dated.

Despite the convenient and pleasant ride offering nice views - the staff working here might just be the most unfriendly people in town (specifically at the ticket counters).

No matter if buying the tickets at the lower station or just asking some information in the upper station the people working here seemed to be annoyed by the guests, acting and answering in a rude way.

Later in the afternoon it broke down with no further information provided. Shame for a major attraction in a beautiful city. They should seriously think of their guest experience concept here as this might turn people away or leave them stranded at the top.

This trip is a must. The views at the top are amazing. We went in the winter. At the top there is a sort of amusement park, with all sorts of attractions. I suspect it may be quite busy in the summer. There is a nice cafe at the top where you can rest a while and the prices are not too bad for a tourist location.

It was such an Unforgettable and Awesome experience to ride the Funicular Train heading up to a Recreational Place on top of Tbilisi Mountainous City. 👍 👍 Overlooking the Picturesque City view of Whole Tbilisi is beyond Wonderful. Morning Tour is recommended to see the great view. If you have free time, The amusement park opens at 10am.

We were here in September 2019 and this was the first place we headed. The entrance is quite easy to find and a short walk from one of the metro stations. You need a different card for this to the metro, but one card can be used for more than one person - so we bought one card with four journeys on it (i.e two returns for the two of us).

The funicular has three stops - one at the bottom, one at the top and one in the middle. The train carriages are quite new with air conditioning. The journey up and down is fairly smooth and quick.

The middle stop takes you to Mtatsminda Pantheon. We decided to get off here on the way back down and then had to top up the card to travel back down again. Nothing major, but something to bear in mind.

The views from the top and the mid-point stations are great.

We went up the funicular ride (undoubtedly the view is great and it’s a fun experience) and while descending I realized that I have forgotten my backpack at the cafeteria.
I asked the operator if they could send it down with the next ride or if one of us could go up again and bring it back.
Although he agreed and tried to help by calling the cafeteria and asking for the bag, another colleague of his told me that I had to go up myself and pay for the 2-way ride again. The cashier told me the same thing when I asked to talk to a supervisor.
Just felt disappointed by their money grabbing attitude.

the waiters were friendly, helpful and knows the menu well.
We have been there 4-5 times in 4 months and each time tried different dishes. We loved them all. The desserts are amazing! Wines are also nice. The price is of for this high quality food and service.

Good experience. Must visit if you are in Tbilisi. Good way to go to the amusement park. Once on the upper station you reach the park. One way charges are 6 GEL per person. Awesome views of the city from the top. Good to decend on the funicular during sunset.
