The Holy Trinity Cathedral is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church (1995 - 2004). It is the third tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral and one of the largest in the world by total area. It was built to commemorate 1,500 years of autocephaly of the Georgian Orthodox Church and 2,000 years from the birth of Jesus. It really is a must see and when you go inside it is simply breathtaking. We took our time and could feel an amazing presence…..blessed.

Wonderful visit. Majestic building with many visitors as well as worshippers. There are two areas to buy candles if you wish to use them. The views of the city are beautiful. We walked up using google maps which was helpful.

Impressive cathedral, first sighted from the funicular and accessed after a long walk in the rain. The gardens are beautiful, and the cathedral inside is rich in solemnity and history. It was worth the walk, especially as the route introduced us to other parts of Tbilisi.

The church itself has some good frescoes. It’s a large church so very quiet and peaceful. The complex has several pavilions worth exploring, decorative gates and a large promenade leading up to the church with its gold dome. It was recently constructed so in great condition and I would highly recommend it for the experience of being almost entirely alone! Don’t forget to explore the cafe near the gate on your way out.

My first stop is a true masterpiece, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, or "Sameba" as we call it in Georgian. You can visit here for free. Kindly note that there is a dress code. People generally arrive by tour buses so just wait for 20~30 mins until buses leave if you want to see the place less crowded. So no need to go there very early. It is actually 10 mins away from the river and there are old houses and local restaurants on the way. It is worth walking especially for taking good photos.
