One Of The Largest In The World
The Holy Trinity Cathedral is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church (1995 - 2004). It is the third tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral and one of the largest in the world by total area. It was built to commemorate 1,500 years of autocephaly of the Georgian Orthodox Church and 2,000 years from the birth of Jesus. It really is a must see and when you go inside it is simply breathtaking. We took our time and could feel an amazing presence…..blessed.

    Amazing place to spend time.
Wonderful visit. Majestic building with many visitors as well as worshippers. There are two areas to buy candles if you wish to use them. The views of the city are beautiful. We walked up using google maps which was helpful.

    A spectacular place to visit
Impressive cathedral, first sighted from the funicular and accessed after a long walk in the rain. The gardens are beautiful, and the cathedral inside is rich in solemnity and history. It was worth the walk, especially as the route introduced us to other parts of Tbilisi.

    Amazing Church Complex
The church itself has some good frescoes. It’s a large church so very quiet and peaceful. The complex has several pavilions worth exploring, decorative gates and a large promenade leading up to the church with its gold dome. It was recently constructed so in great condition and I would highly recommend it for the experience of being almost entirely alone! Don’t forget to explore the cafe near the gate on your way out.

Its a church. Tourists are not allowed at times..
My first stop is a true masterpiece, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, or "Sameba" as we call it in Georgian. You can visit here for free. Kindly note that there is a dress code. There is a side entrance which I used and there is a main entrance that is generally used by all tourists to enter the church. I have shared more details on my YouTube channel. I chose to walk. It's a bit of a walk, so you can consider a metro or taxi if that is more convenient for you! This is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. It was constructed between 1995-2004. It is the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world and one of the largest religious buildings in the world by total area. Additionally, the location is not accessible for individuals with mobility challenges due to the hillside setting.

    Amazing!
People generally arrive by tour buses so just wait for 20~30 mins until buses leave if you want to see the place less crowded. So no need to go there very early. It is actually 10 mins away from the river and there are old houses and local restaurants on the way. It is worth walking especially for taking good photos.

Coming from Europe, it's fairly rare to see a modern cathedral, so I really enjoyed visiting here. It's a big sight, with a new modern building - inside is actually more plain than I thought it would be compared to orthodox churches. Definitely worth a visit to see the scale of this place.

The whole day tour will not be completed without visitation to this Holy Place, the Tsminda Sameba Cathedral. 👍 👍 👍 Many pilgrims perhaps visit this miraculous place yearly. 👍 We also felt the blessings spiritually upon seeing this place and the chance to see the lovely look of the inside of the cathedral. 👍 It was really a mesmerizing experience. 🙏❤️🙏

Very impressive site. The main cathedral is a huge building and the inside is very elaborate with several levels. Apparently the site was cleared specially to build this and it was paid for by a local businessman. The grounds are set out well too and it's position on top of the hill overlooking Tbilisi is impressive.

We went to this church 2 times ( day and night ) during our visit to Tbilisi, it’s very beautiful church and big compared others church’s in Tbilisi.
We’re lucky to meet a woman who bring us inside the church and show us around like a tour guide.

One thing that bothered us was the beggars in front of the doors quiet pushing and keep asked money even we already gave them 2 Gel of coins. Just say“ara” means “No” if waving your hands is not working.

I was lucky enough to visit the church at the time of the mass. Even though it was in Georgian language, it was absolutely mesmerizing. The interior is as beautiful as you expect. However, better bring your own candles and dress modestly. :)

A very impressive Cathedral that dominates the Tbilisi skyline and looks amazing when lit up at night. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony looking out over it most nights. Inside is worth a look but we found some of the older churches in Tbilisi more interesting.

We loved our walk to the cathedral, which was quite steep, but we did it at a leisurely pace escorted by one of the many street dogs of Tbilisi. This cathedral, known as the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi and commonly known as Sameba. It is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church . The church is relatively new and was constructed between 1989-2004, but it none the less quickly become an iconic symbol of Tbilisi. It is at a height and therefore visible from great distances .within the city.

I think you should visit the Sameba Cathedral even if it is just for photos outside, it loks very astonishing. Also at night it gets illuminated which is cool. I went on a Sunday at around 19 oclock and I could witness a mass going on, the church was full! Very interesting. Entry is free of charge.
