Do however note that you can limitless pictures of the old town and it is very walkable . However, amongst the numerous churches, I was not able to enter a sugar one as the drs and gates to the church are closed and they prevent your aura from visiting . As such , you can’t enter any of the old soundings unless you are eating or shopping in the one town .Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 7, 2024
- Cloud1,463 contributionsGreat place to be!Very beautiful place to be. At walking distance you can see all best venues. Pleasant, different, interesting, multicultural city centre: orthodox churches, synagogues, museums, a modern bridge and the aerial tramway leading to the fortress and the Mother of Georgia statue... My advice: when in Tbilisi, book a hotel in the old city, and you will also enjoy the buzzing nightlife there with live music, nice restaurants and bars.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten May 12, 2024
- Coryy20Port of Spain, Trinidad6,378 contributionsA laidback city with best food in EuropeThe city is a very laid back and historical city. There are many historical buildings there's a sulfur bath, a cable car to go up to the top of the mountain, a glass bridge and a river running through it. The city is very safe and city is lots of shops restaurants, many different color roses for sale I don't know if they are grown in Georgia or not but this is something you will see at many shops. Moreover, its has the best tasting food in all of Europe..Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten June 18, 2024
- Dimitris GAthens, Greece1,088 contributionsTHE OLD CITY OF TIFLIDA IS BEAUTIFULThe old city of Tbilisi is beautiful! Very narrow alleys, countless restaurants, small old churches. Wander and turn all over the old town. The catering shops are very expensive, I would say for Tbilisi prices, but they have good quality.Visited September 2023Traveled with friendsWritten June 20, 2024
- Zubair ChembManama, Bahrain34 contributionsThe quaint city I keep falling in love with more and more each time I visit you!!A City That Charms on Every Visit Tbilisi, a city I've had the pleasure of exploring on numerous occasions, recently captivated me once again during a family vacation. It's a place that seamlessly blends its rich, centuries-old culture with a modern vibe. One of Tbilisi's greatest delights is getting lost in its beautiful alleyways. These charming paths are lined with history, whispering tales of a bygone era. The friendly locals you encounter along the way add another layer of warmth to the experience. Tbilisi truly earns its reputation as a safe city. Very comfortable exploring on foot, even venturing out for nighttime strolls without a worry. This sense of security allows you to fully immerse ourselves in the city's atmosphere. Foodies will rejoice in Tbilisi's culinary scene. The local cuisine is a delicious adventure, and I highly recommend indulging in the flavorful Chakapuli soup and the savory Khinkhali dumplings. History buffs will be enthralled by the city's abundance of ancient monuments, some dating back over a thousand years. Stunning natural beauty surrounds Tbilisi, with sparkling lakes and majestic mountains within easy reach. Tbilisi's nightlife is another highlight. Whether you prefer lively bars or relaxing cafes, there's something for everyone. Exploring Tbilisi doesn't have to break the bank. The public transportation system is clean, efficient, and affordable. Hotels cater to a wide range of budgets, ensuring a comfortable stay for any traveler. Traffic is also manageable, making getting around the city a breeze. For those seeking more independence, renting a car is an inexpensive option. This allows you to explore the surrounding areas and hidden gems at your own pace. Tbilisi's charm lies in its multifaceted nature. It offers a captivating blend of history, culture, delicious food, and stunning natural beauty. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor, Tbilisi has something special to offer everyone.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 22, 2024
- Vanessa AVienna, Austria28 contributionsOld town with a special flairThe old town of Tbilisi has its own flair - especially beautiful and classic for the city are the old wooden balconies. Within walking distance of the main attractions. In addition to clockwork, the old churches such as the Anchiskhati Church from the 6th century are also a must. ==References====External links== For short or longer breaks there are many nice restaurants and cafes. It is also worth taking a walk outside the well-known streets such as Erekle II, Sioni and Rustaveli. However, you can still see many unrenovated and dilapidated (although inhabited) buildings.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 23, 2024
- Pfenig V10 contributionsThe Old Town of Tbilisi is a treasure - give yourself time to soak it all in, day and nightThe Old Town of Tbilisi is a Gem. Although we took several full-day trips outside of Tbilisi, we always came back to walking ups and down the Old Town. So many points of interest. Architecture from different periods. Pebbled streets. Numerous restaurants, wonderful ambience. Visit it day and night and before sunset too. Venture to the back streets. Check out the Hot Baths. Walk into old Churches. Take a boat ride on the river. Just a wonderful area of Tbilisi. A must visit.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 26, 2024

Its a whole pot puree of cultures and tourists from all parts of the world. We loved walking up and down the cobbled street and peeping into every shop for souvenir shopping. There is a string of night restaurants which bring out the lively night life. Lot of places and benches to sit and watch the world go by. There is I Love Tbilisi too for photo-ops. - Ali NazifpourTehran, Iran58 contributionsMust exploreI would say that Tbilisi's main charm is the ambient atmosphere of the city, and the most important part of that is the Old Town. Its cobblestoned streets must definitely be explored on foot, with beautiful art all across, combining traditional and modern, official and unofficial (in for of graffitis). Calm dogs roam the streets that are filled with life.Visited October 2024Traveled soloWritten October 21, 2024

The true heart of the city. It’s awesome to just get lost there and look at the unique buildings. The stray dogs followed us around and played with us.
If you have time, get a tour guide to walk you through the old town and tell you the stories behind the buildings and art pieces.

The real Tbilisi! The mixture of old Georgia, the Ottoman influence and Iranian heritage all in quiet harmony. The only way to enjoy Tbilisi is by walking through its narrow alleys and enjoy the sites and the heritage. You can also enjoy a snack and maybe have a shisha in one of the many cafes in the area, or maybe dare the challenge of having a rough massage in one of the famous old hammams. If you are on your own you can find nice young guides offering their services for just a few dollars.

Located on the banks of the Kura river, the old town is a maze of narrow winding cobbled streets, souvenir shops, cafes, historic buildings, sulphur baths, churches and historic monuments. It is built on the side of a hill so involves a bit of climbing as well. It is home to the historic Narikala fortress and many sulphur baths.
You can get lost in its narrow streets and take a trip back in time, visit a café and watch the world go by or visit the many monuments and historical attractions located here. This is a historic part of Tbilisi and definitely a must visit.

Tbilisi's historical district is known by many names: "Dzveli Tbilisi", "Old Tbilisi" or simply "Old Town". A labyrinth of cobbled narrow streets on the right bank of "Mtkvari River" (aka "Kura River"), dominated by "Mount Mtatsminda", "Narikala Fortress" and the imposing monument to "Kartlis Deda" - the almighty "Mother Georgia". On its streets (some exclusively por pedestrians), art galleries, restaurants, bars, cafés, nightclubs ... and churches, museums, sulphur baths and so on! Beautiful traditional colorful wooden houses with lattice balconies, revealing the perfect fusion of European and Asian influences in the local architecture. Visit "Old Town" at any time, but it is only when its lights are on that you can feel its whole magic! Enjoy!

Very beautiful historic center, has countless nice views, is full of pedestrian streets that in the evening are filled with life and nice restaurants (even if I doubt their quality in terms of cost and goodness). You can easily get around everything on foot. I recommend taking a taxi just to get to the Cathedral which is uphill, and then walking back down... the botanical garden area is less interesting... Don't count on more than two days to see the whole city if you are short on time you can even do just one

We lover wandering around in the old city, many buildings are a bit crap but that’s contributing to the charm. Plenty of restaurants and some nice attractions like Museum of Illusion. From the old city you can climb the stairs to the top of the hill where you will find the statue Mother of Georgia and the fortress.

Visiting the Old Twon will give an authentic experience of Old Tbilisi life and history.
From old churches, Synagog, Mosque, Sulphur Baths and old buildings, to traditional foods, restaurants, bakeries and shops.
Walking through the stone roads, where you can rest any time at good cafe or restaurant makes it a good tour to explore the Georgian traditional cousin and drinks.

I booked a walking tour through the hotel concierge. This helped bring the stories and history to life. This is a nest part of town that feels like you have stepped back in time. After the tour you can hang out, wander, or eat on your own. This is more well-known for night life but going during the day to appreciate the buildings and history of the place.

So much to see from the main historical museum, parliament building, mall and just overall unique shops scattered about. There was always street vendors in certain areas and often on Saturday, there was a upscale street market where small creative people shared their handmade goods. May not have been always the cheapest stuff, but often would provide a discount for multiple items purchased. It is located outside the main mall downtown.
We found it easy to walk enough for all the sites but wear quality footwear for the distances.

Anyone visiting Tbilisi last week, is it safe to go since the conflicts and protests continue?
Written December 15, 2024
Hoping to visit Tbilisi for the first time next April. Please could you help by recommending places to stay, we’re unfamiliar with the city so unsure where is best. Walking long distances isn’t on our list, local transport advice welcomed! We’d like to visit local sites, nice restaurants (Tbilisi food specialities?) and perhaps do some shopping whilst there. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I'm gonna go to the Tbilisi next week, can you give me some advises? for reserving hotel, ordering a taxi or maybe renting a bike? please tell me about difficulties which you had there?

You might check hotelscom, but the best location to stay is either near Meidan, or old town square. Airbnb is also a big help (if you are interested). As far as Taxi, download these to Apps, they are pretty much like Uber:
1. Bolt-Taxify
2. Yandax
All you need is a local sim card, which you can buy it for about $5. Magti usually has a good coverage, speed and price, but you might check the other ones at the airport. Good luck and enjoy beautiful Tibilisi
