Hi!
We had such a great experience renting a Lada Niva from Overlando. Joris was very helpful and kind and the pick up and drop off of the car felt very trustbased. Really appreciated it. It made our pick up easy and fast and the drop off very convenient for us.

The cars are equipped with everything you could possibly need - reading material (LonelyPlanet + a book written by Georgians about Georgia), and the classic gear; a stove, table and chairs etc. + coffee and spices ☕️🧂 which is a small - but lovely gesture.

The tent is easy to rise, the bed is very comfortable and the view changes from day to day. We really got a taste for off road driving and loved being able to set camp wherever we wanted and being close to the wind, weather and the call of hyenas ⛰🐺

Awesome Buhanka Campervan rental in Georgia! We rented for 2 1/2 weeks and traveled throughout the mountains of Georgia, from Svaneti to Tusheti and many places in between. The van was extremely reliable, and it had excellent 4 wheel drive - a necessity for several of the places we visited. The only time we had to turn back was when our path was blocked by 1.5 meters of snow! The Campervans was also very well equipped - full kitchen kit and gas burners, large water jug (which we filled at the many natural springs along the roads of Georgia),and most importantly a fridge for all those excellent Georgian wines. The only downside was having to wait until we found a campsite every day to open a bottle! Joris and his team were also excellent - answering our questions both before and during our trip. 10 out of 10 would recommend for anyone looking to explore Georgia.

Rented Niva Lada for a week to travel in Borjomi/Tabatskuri area and to Kakheti. Had an amazing experience. Niva is cool and comes with everything one might need for hicking. Sleeping in a tent that is installed on the roof of the car was an awesome thing and something I had never seen before. Customer service was also great! The staff was very well organized, responsible, and punctual. Overall 10/10!! Highly recommended!

Our experience with Overlando was unfortunately very disappointing.

In August 2024, we rented a Toyota Hilux for 21 days, but our trip was marred by several serious issues:

1. Faulty Fuel System: Every refuel took an excessive amount of time (>35 minutes for half a tank, around 40 liters), and diesel would inevitably overflow into the cabin, contaminating various items. This meant we had to sleep with strong diesel fumes.

2. Leaking Water Tank: After every off-road drive, we lost around half of the 100-liter tank's contents. This issue clearly wasn’t new - grass was already growing on the tank.

3. Leaky Cabin: Several areas, including cracked welds, allowed rainwater to seep inside the cabin.

4. Cracked Seals: The seals on the cabin were all brittle and cracked, which allowed dirt and dust to heavily contaminate the interior.

5. Unsecured Cabin Door: The door could not be locked from the inside, so it could be opened from outside at any time - even once at night during our trip.

6. Faulty Roof Tent Ladder: The ladder did not lock into place, making it impossible to use the rooftop tent.

The most frustrating aspect was that Overlando was well aware of the fuel system problem and had still not carried out proper repairs. We were rented a highly used vehicle with over 180.000 km and known issues - yet charged the same rate as newer models. We only realized the extent of the problem a week before the end of our trip when we saw another Overlando Toyota Hilux at a gas station. That vehicle had no trouble fueling, and the travelers confirmed they hadn’t experienced any of the issues we faced. The vehicle and cabin were in noticeably better condition, too.

After this encounter, it became clear to us that we had been given a severely flawed vehicle. We immediately wrote an email to Overlando detailing the issues and requesting a reduction in our rental fee. However, at the vehicle drop-off, the owner was uncooperative, even trying to blame us by saying we reported the issues too late. He claimed he could now only offer a reduced rental refund. It’s important to emphasize that Overlando rented us an old vehicle with known defects, and as renters, we are entitled to a fully functioning vehicle. We wanted to enjoy a worry-free vacation, not one filled with preventable problems.

After lengthy discussions, he ultimately agreed to a minimal rental reduction for the last six days of our rental period.

It is very disappointing that we had such negative experiences with Overlando. Based on the many positive reviews, we had been greatly looking forward to this trip.

Unfortunately, it seems that with Overlando, getting a reliable, well-maintained vehicle is simply a matter of luck.

Hello Jörg Schlenker, GPT, Thank you for your detailed feedback. As we discussed upon your return, we prioritize customer satisfaction and addressing issues as quickly as possible. While we can’t prevent every possible issue, we strive to go the extra mile to resolve any challenges travelers may face on the road. With a network across the country, our team frequently traveling to remote areas, and multiple vehicles on stand-by, we’re well-equipped to support our guests whenever they reach out. In your case, we unfortunately only heard about the problems very late in your long rental period, which left us unable to offer timely solutions. Open communication is key—it’s a bit like ordering a meal, eating it fully, and then complaining that is was not good afterward. We emphasize at vehicle pick-up and in the rental terms that prompt reporting of any issues helps us serve you better. For instance, if you had mentioned the diesel fueling issue earlier, we could have provided a quick tip to address it. Also, regarding the water tank, the grass on top isn’t from a leak; the water there accumulates after overfilling the water tank or carwash. You can see the edges of the tank on your photo. The leak you had is due to off-road impacts, which might even have occurred during your own journey. In the first days you visited Vashlovani, which is notorious for water tank damage due to rocks. We believe it’s only fair to have an opportunity to fix or replace a vehicle when problems arise, which was not possible due to the delayed communication from your side. When we asked about the timing of your complaint, you eventually admitted it was only to ask for more money at the end. We don’t play along such games. It seems you were documenting all the issues with great detail, the only thing left was to send us a quick WhatsApp message. For example, when you lost a key, you contacted us, and we promptly assisted you. You even visited our garage without mentioning any of these other concerns, despite likely refueling at least once or twice by then and being aware of some of the smaller defects. Regarding the mention of an ‘highly used vehicle’ - the mileage is nothing for a Toyota Hilux and it does show that you had no issues whatsoever with the mechanics of the car. The issues were related to the camper cabin, which was installed much more recently. Indeed, we have some newer cabins in our fleet, and they have exactly the same specifications as the one you got. They also develop issues every now and then, because they are always in use, and we try to prevent of course as much as possible. We’re committed to continuous improvement and appreciate your input as we strive to ensure that all travelers have a reliable and enjoyable experience with Overlando. Thank you again for sharing your perspective.

We had an amazing experience driving around Georgia with the Lada Niva! Powerful small car that had everything we needed, even a charger, music box and wifi box. We experienced the wonderful nature by getting to remote areas but also the friendliness of Georgians as we impressed them with our Lada Niva!
Very easy handling of the paper work and great communication and support through WhatsApp.
Highly recommended!

Dear Joris and the entire Overlando team,
we hope you are well and happy, because we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for an unforgettable trip with Overlando to Georgia!
Our search for an adventure in a country full of nature led us to you by a happy coincidence. The curiosity that your website aroused in us was surpassed when we saw the pictures of your 4x4 vehicles. As experienced travelers who traveled through South America for two years, we were excited to see what would await us.
From booking to communication to vehicle handover, everything went absolutely smoothly. The UAZ we rented turned out to be a true off-road beast. There seems to be no terrain that it cannot master - a real blast! The equipment for our adventure trip was perfect, the beds comfortable and the included WiFi was always fast and reliable.
Even when we had problems once, we got help immediately, even though we were far away from Tbilisi. We were really impressed by your prompt response and it was a great feeling to know that we were in good hands at all times.
Georgia enchanted us with its breathtaking nature, friendly people and adventures around every corner. Both the big cities like Batumi and Tbilisi and the charming little villages and markets invited us to keep discovering new things - especially the delicious Georgian food.
If it were up to us, we would definitely come back and continue where we left off - in Vashlovani National Park. This trip with Overlando will remain in our hearts forever and we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for that. Thank you again, Joris, and thank you to the whole team for this unforgettable experience!
With kind regards,
Emilie and Martin

My husband and I rented Overlando's UAZ Buhanka in May 2022 for a week to visit the western and north-western part of Georgia. We drove from Kutaisi to Mestia, then back down to Bakuriani, while stopping by natural sulphur pools, the world-famous Martvili canyon and Prometheus cave, and beautiful overnight camping spots.

We absolutely enjoyed our drive/stay in the UAZ. Overlando has designed the UAZ keeping user experience first - we were so pleased by how the "furniture" could be moved and folded to suit our needs. The bed linen given along with the van were also so comfortable and helped keep the heat at bay. Even the kitchenette was well thought out, and adequately stocked with travel utensils and cutlery. We frequently stopped on our route to make ourselves a cup of tea.

Although we couldn't use the tent much as it frequently rained, it was a simple mechanism and we were surprised by the amount of space inside the tent.

The Overlando helpline is also always available to sort out any issues during the journey and they also provide 5 GB of WIFI included with the vehicle, with more data available to purchase if needed.

Overall, it was an excellent experience with Overlando, and we hope to go back to explore more parts of Georgia, with our UAZ home.

Camping in Georgia is wonderful! So we immediately loved the options offered by Overlando's cars. Unfortunately, we were given a completely run-down car and little understanding from Overlando. The main and even life-threatening defect was that the brake system did not work. According to Overlando, this was due to our braking style although the two car mechanics both vehemently denied this. Fortunately, Overlando was willing to pay for the new brake system, but we had lost 2 days of our holiday and had been very lucky to get down the mountain unscathed.
In addition, it rained inside, the fridge did not work, a rod was missing in the outdoor shower, the tent and door fell shut due to a problem with the pump, a camping chair was broken, the velcros were worn (allowing mosquitoes inside), the water meter did not work, there was a hole in the water basin, ... just to mention a few.
As we did not want to lose any more time, we did verbally report these inconveniences to Overlando but did not ask them to solve it. This was reason enough for Overlando to want to compensate us only a minuscule amount at the end. After all, everything could be solved during our holiday. Not once did Overlando apologise to us for giving us a car where almost everything was worn out. Nor did Overlando ever realise that you don't want to fix all kinds of preliminary problems with a car during your holiday but just want to leave with an okay car. So think twice before booking with Overlando or you will end up having a holiday where a great amount of time has to be spend at fixing car problems.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry your trip didn’t go as smoothly as we had all hoped. Georgia is a wonderful place to explore, and we understand how setbacks can overshadow the adventure. We'd like to address the facts and details of your issues for clarity and context. Starting with the brakes: we understand how alarming it can be to experience overheating, particularly on your first day driving in the mountains. Overheating brakes are most often caused by excessive braking downhill, especially when adjusting to a heavier, unfamiliar vehicle in an unknown country. To help prevent further issues and ensure your peace of mind, we immediately offered to check the brake system (which happened) and replace the brake pads at a convenient location on your route, using a trusted mechanic. This would have taken no more than 40 minutes. Unfortunately, you ignored this offer and chose to continue. When we suggested that the overheating might be related to driving style, you became defensive. Driving downhill in neutral or higher gears, as you mentioned during the phone call, can lead to overheating brakes in less than a minute. Even with a completely good brake system. It’s our responsibility to inform our guests of this risk to prevent further occurrence, for their own safety. You then drove for a week, covering hundreds of kilometers, and reported that the brakes were working fine—without any mechanical changes. Later, after a rainy night in one of the most humid regions, the brakes began to squeal, which is common in such conditions. To err on the side of caution, we again offered to replace the pads. This time, the replacement was unplanned and took place at a workshop unfamiliar to us, causing a longer wait. This delay could have been avoided had you accepted our initial offer for preventive replacement, and it’s not fair to blame us for this delay. When we later inspected the replaced parts, we found that the pads, though showing signs of overheating, still had enough material left, had no uneven wear or cracks. The brake discs were in nearly new condition. Unfortunately, the mechanic shop overcharged for unnecessary work and overpriced parts, including replacing the brake discs. Despite this, we covered the full cost without hesitation, to ensure you could continue your trip without further delays. As for the additional issues, we are disappointed that they were not reported earlier in some detail, as many could have been resolved quickly. Our team is always available to assist, and we fully acknowledge that things can break, or be overlooked, and we also make mistakes on top of that. We solve issues daily with minimal disruption to our guests’ holidays. However, you didn’t give us that chance, instead letting frustrations build until they boiled over and you lost your temper. For instance, one of the plastic washing tubs had a hole. While this should not have happened, there was a second tub onboard, and these can be easily replaced at any supermarket for a few euros. To focus on such minor issues seems futile, especially when there were more valid concerns, which we have always acknowledged. After thoroughly reviewing all communication and phone calls, including all the technical evidence, we have offered you a compensation, which we believe is more than fair and addressed the valid issues you had. However, given the tone of your feedback and refusal to accept help during the trip, we believe no compensation would have satisfied you. We’re sad that things turned out this way, as our goal is always to provide the best possible experience for our guests, given our abilities and circumstances, and to swiftly resolve any bumps that may arise during their journey. We believe this is why we have so many satisfied customers, despite all the challenges faced.

The two of us traveled through Georgia for two weeks in the UAZ Buchanka. Communication with Overlando beforehand and the payment process were problem-free and friendly. An easy-to-understand manual was also sent beforehand, which was helpful. We were picked up at the hotel and then given a short introduction to the vehicle. Then the adventure began. It took about 2 days to get used to the Georgians' driving style and the handling of the Buchanka.
Then on the first day of driving on the military road we had a setback. The fuel pump was broken and pumped fuel into the left tank and then into the right tank. The fuel gauge also turned out to be inaccurate. We then found ourselves on the mountain and could not drive any further. Overlando then sent someone over to fill up the tank for us. This problem accompanied us throughout the whole trip, which meant driving to a gas station every day. We never knew the exact fuel level and were afraid of getting stuck somewhere. Even though it must be said that the network of petrol stations is very well developed, this situation was a bit of a hassle. Spare canisters in the Buchanka would probably be useful.
The Buchanka is otherwise very well equipped, it has everything you need and it is clean and hygienic. A few cupboard doors and hinges should perhaps be replaced again as they were loose or fell off during the trip. The mattress also definitely needs to be replaced as it is too thin and at some point we didn't know how to lie down anymore.
About the car: We drove over 2500 kilometres, often on unpaved roads and the Buchanka coped with it without any problems.
Everything went well when we returned it. We were even able to spontaneously extend our stay by a day. The loose things that had fallen off the interior were taken care of without any problems.
All in all, it was a great trip. Georgia is a fascinating and varied country and we would come back!

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed review of your two-week adventure with our UAZ Buchanka campervan in Georgia. We're delighted to hear that you found the communication and payment process with Overlando smooth and friendly, and that the pre-trip manual was helpful in preparing for your journey. We understand that adapting to the local driving style and becoming accustomed to the handling of the Buchanka took a bit of time, and we appreciate your patience in this regard. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the fuel pump. We understand that the repeated stops at gas stations were less than ideal, and we've taken your suggestion to add canisters to the equipment already in practice. We're glad to hear that despite the challenges, the Buchanka provided a reliable travel companion for your 2500-kilometer journey. Your feedback regarding the mattress is also noted, and we will certainly take steps to address this to ensure a more comfortable sleep for our future guests. We're thrilled that you had an overall fantastic trip in the fascinating and diverse landscapes of Georgia. Your positive experiences and insightful feedback inspire us to continuously enhance our services. Thank you for choosing Overlando for your adventure, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for another remarkable journey through this captivating country. Warm regards, The Overlando Team
