Close to the north gate of Shwedagon, 3000 kyat for foreigners to enter. Some information boards only in Burmese, not very helpful for the foreigners. A place of historical significance to the country but the actual monument is nothing like I have seen for any other national hero's around the world, awful architecture, more like an inner city concrete skate board ramp painted red. I would recommend you give this a miss.

When you see barbed wired gates, red and grey coloured stones, you're in the right place. Go to that huge entrance and see a small ticketing booth. It's 3,000 Myanmar Kyats for foreigners. No brochure given so you really have to read on the History before you visit or simply bring a local friend.

As you enter after buying your ticket, sign in at security booth. Then, off you go. Unfortunately, not all the stone slabs are written in English and not all of us can read Burmese either. Hence why I personally thought, it'll be nice to have a brochure for record and summarised reading purposes.

You can take videos and photos in this mausoleum. So you should take a photo at the fallen star by the ground.

The posters in the yard are only in Myanmar language. The whole place is quite empty. The entrance fee for foreigners is 3000kyat.

For Myanmar people who already know the story, this may be a place to contemplate, but there is little help given to those who dont know that history.

If you need the full stop... [or exclamation mark !] to conclude your history excursion of Myanmar then this serene park is the place to spend a while.

It's a bit tricky to find as very few locals visit this place and even fewer tourists have it on their 'list' but once you get there the extremely friendly 'gate staff' will direct you to what initially looks like an overgrown concrete ski ramp supplemented by blocky 'pool chairs' - but it doesn't take too long to figure out what they are trying to explain - especially the slightly raised central plinth. [If you need clarification the gate staff will gladly explain - then go back and appreciate the sombre mood expressed in the monument].

When you do 'get it' you will understand how subtle it is - and yes it's missing a flag [or two] - the national flag is only raised over the mausoleum on 19 July and apparently there is a queue of international dignitaries a mile long for the occasion so don't plan on getting a ticket/seat unless you are of course a dignitary of some note!!

This is a quiet, reserved park in yangon of enormous significance to this country's history and I am pleased that it is 'off the radar' [so far] re tourism - enjoy it while you can.

Martyrs Mausoleum is a place, where Myanmar national heroes were buried, General Aung San was one of them, who is the father of Aung San Suu Kyi. We heard a brief history of killing of these great heroes from our tour guide, so we could understand the importance of the place. If you like to visit this Mausoleum, you should read a brief history about the place to understand its importance.

If you like the idea of getting lost in a fog of incense, then this is a must visit for you. Otherwise, it is an interesting and historically significant attraction. Walk in with your shoes in a bag though, as otherwise, if you leave them on the shoe rack, you will not get them back without a fee being paid.

It is located near Northern Stairway of Shwedagon Pagoda. The 9 Martyrs (General Aung San and his ministers ) had tried to get the independence from Japan. They all was killed by terrorism on 19th july when they hold meeting at the Secretariat Building. You can visit this building on only 19th July.

Near the northern entrance of Shwedagon Pagoda, Red painted Mausoleum says what kind of Men they are, for their country.
