Don't expect too much from this market but it's as good as most and has a selection of crafts, gems and clothing. It's clean, well laid out and felt completely safe. You need to bargain and in the case of the jewellery understand what you are looking...More

Before we called it Scott Market. It is one of the tourist attrections. Even under the Socialist and military periods, it was always busy with foreign visitors.

Gems and jade are the most visible as are pearls in every size and color. There are many sections in the market - food, clothes, wood, lacquer, art, etc.., you can easily a couple of hours in the market.

This is a real tourist activity in where you can find all fabrics, souveigner, longyi, gems, art work and etc. The asking prices are always higher compared to actual prices. Do bargain before your purchases. There is at least a room for 20% discount.

Out of my experience I would say, it will be closed as most of the city/daily life gets to standstill during Thingyan. It's the same in the city, where almost ALL shops are closed. But this answer is not 100% updated. . .
