It was established over 100 years however still attracting to visitors from far and near. Location is heart of Yangon and beside the Kandawgyi lake so that easy to access even walk from downtown. Yangon(Rangoon) Zoo has plenty of rare species both mammals and bird...More

The hippos were standing by the wall waiting to be fed. Some of them seemed to get way more food than others. The fence is low enough that you can easily reach down and touch the hippos if you’re stupid enough. It’s an accident waiting...More

Unfortunately with the movement of the government, most of the best animals were taken and there is just a shadow of the previous zoo.

Old zoo with many animals in there.. we enjoy our trip to this zoo. The zoo is kind of big, we spent at least 2 hours there watching the animals and walking around.

We went there on the way to the Pagoda thinking it would be a nice walk, but the animals are living in terrible conditions, concrete cells, alone and the cages are so small. Felt awful for them, the zoo should be shut down if they...More

One of the saddest places in Yangon. Tourists encouraged to buy five sticks of sugar cane to feed the skinny elephants. Mountain bears panting in lowland Yangon clearly uncomfortable. Tigers pacing iin frustration.
