We wandered past this temple on our walk out to Shwedagon Pagoda and returned a few days later for a longer visit.. the resident monks welcomed us to explore the grounds and inside the sparkling mirror clad Pagoda.. it had a few devotees praying inside and they didn’t mind us stopping to take in the energy and beauty of the lavish altars and massive Buddha statues ... There is a totally authentic living tradition feel to this temple .. another hidden treasure to be enjoyed in old Rangoon!

Myanmar is the Lands of the Thousands of pagodas and stupas. The gilded stupas seem to dominate most religious landscape in Mandalay and Yangon. But Sein Yaung Chi Pagoda with her glittering glossy stupa is an exception. I was walking my way from the downtown to visit Shwedagon Pagoda and saw this unique temple on the right side of the main road. It is located along Shwedagon Pagoda Road about 100 meters from the temple. Admission is free.
I think this temple did the right thing by displaying the name of the temple prominently at the entrance. So, visitors knew at one look the temple he or she is visiting.
The compound of the temple is quite small. Birds flew in here and found refuge at the yard. The atmosphere appears serene and peaceful though it was located along the busy road leading to Shwedagon temple.
The visit to Shwedagon Pagoda should also include visits to the following nearby attractions:
(a) Sein Yaung Chi Pagoda - this temple
(b) Maha Wizaya Pagoda - just across the road on the south entrance of Shwedagon
(c) Kandawgyi Park - near the eastern entrance of Shwedagon
(d) People's Park - across the road at the south entrance of Shwedagon
(e) Martyr's Mausoleum - at the north entrance of Shwedagon
It would take you almost the whole day to visit Shwedagon and the nearby attractions.

I found this pagoda on Trip Advisor. Thank you to those who reviewed it. Even our guide did not know about this pagoda, but our driver did.
It is lovely both inside and out. It has lots of interesting details and is worth time to study.
Almost no one is there, so it's peaceful and quiet. You could actually take to meditate here and likely have a wonderful experience.

The outside of this almost completely unvisited pagoda is covered in mirror mosaic, making it look almost as if it were a mirage. The inside is covered in thousands of tiny Buddha sculptures. Some fantastic nats live in the courtyard. A wonderful discovery on the walk to Shwedagon, this is certainly my favourite temple in Yangon.

It is located in the area easily reachable now but with intention to go there. In the past, it was just beside the military head quarter. Many interesting statues are all around.

Not so far from Shwedagon Pagoda. Quiet and beautiful inside, perfect place to take a rest after a long walk in daytime.

This is a unique looking Pagoda, covered in glass tiles is on the way up to the Shwedagon Pagoda, if you're walking up from the train station.

A small but nice temple about halfway from my hotel in Chinatown and Shwedagon Pagoda. It's covered in mirrors that give it an impressive shiny, silver look.
There were no other tourists there during my 15 minute visit, and I suspect they wouldn't get many tourists overall. Colorful tiles cover the inside walls that contain several Buddha statues. It's close to other sights and worth a quick visit.

To be honest, I was kind of “temples out” after Bagan. The temple is quite small, not crowded, and very interesting - mostly thanks to lots of tiny mirrors everywhere.
It’s also on the way to Shwendagon pagoda, and it doesn’t take too much time to see it.
