I was in Yangon for 3 days and staid at the Sule Shangri-La Yangon. I wanted to experience local massage in Myanmar. I checked out my own hotel and prices were astronomical! Yes very nice rooms but the cost for me was prohibitive, around $80 for 90 min body massage.

My excellent IOT tour guide recommended I try this place. It was priced well, $12 for 90 mins, room were OK and the three times I went there the massage therapists were also very good. My wife did a couple of foot massages, the first therapist was excellent, the second one was so so.

So if you want to try a local massage I would recommend you try this place, unless you have bags of money and don't know what to do with it.

Very thorough 90min massage (12,000 kyat) - more involved than a regular Thai massage. I was given "pyjamas" to wear and placed on a comfortable bed. The rooms and decor need work but the place is air conditioned.

I did not like that masseuses would talk to each other but that was a minor annoyance

We had the 60 mins foot massage and out of the 4 of us, 3 had positive things to say about their massage therapists. Very little time spent on the actual 'feet' because they were massaging the upper legs as well. We had a really BAD experience when it came to payment time. They swapped one of our 10000kyat note to a 200kyat because they of similar colour and put the blame back on us for giving them the wrong note. Just make sure you show every note in front of them while paying to avoid such trickery. Truly disappointed!

Hi everyone,

I was looking forward to this foot massage over there for quite some time as it was very well rated on tripadvisor.

You have to go to the Central hotel (which is next to Shangri la) and then go to the 6th floor. Staff is very nice and we paid 8'000 K each for 1 hour foot massage. The place is fine and the staff really take care of you.

What I didn't like and this is very personal, it is the foot massage itself. I don't know if it is the Myanmar standard but I would more call it "leg massage". The maximum time they spent on each foot was 10 mn, 5 minutes to wash them and 5 minutes to kind of massage. Then, you have about 40 mn of leg massage and 5 minutes of back massage which was nice. My feet felt very frustrated after going there. So if you are looking for a real foot massage, maybe it is not the best option and I don't know yet if that exists in Yangon.

Wow. I was pleasantly surprised by this massage. It was dirt cheap -12000 for 1.5 hours and they massaged literally everywhere. At one stage I felt uncomfortable as they started to massage my inner thigh - it hurt like hell though. The girl messeuse I had seriously massaged muscles in my outter leg and under my butt that I didn't know they were even there. For the price, the Service and the friendliness of the staff, I really have to give it a 5/5.

I was staying at the nearby Sule Shangri-La Hotel and decided to check out Level 6. The facility isn't as luxurious as the Shangri-La, but the massages are great and the cost s 1/3 of what Shangri-La charges.

The cost of a 2 hour massage (1 hour foot and leg massage, and 1 hour full body massage). I have severe back and neck injuries, so a massage is a great alternative to pain killers. At prices like this I was able to afford a massage after work every day.

One masseuse really stood out. Miss May Cho, gave the best massages I've ever had in my life. I began requesting Miss Cho every time I went

Over the past year, I have been to almost 20 spas and massages in Yangon. Just to share my few cents worth on some of the higher ranked spas here. Those not ranked, just forget them.
I regret not believing the reviews here.
Dirty, unprofessional, and just like Jasmine Beauty Spa, the list never ends.
Just avoid.

You can't choose oil body massage, oil only for feet.Price 15 000 for 90 mins. Alright, body massage was choosen, You can handle unprofessional massuse(at least teach them where are the muscles and where are the bones), it's ok that back she was touching for 5 min, and the rest for the legs, its ok that floor in the room was dirty with white powder and candy wraps, but noise! I thought Im in a china town, since rooms are open, you listen for 90 min how people (same employees) eating, talking non stop, laughing, eating again, sweeping the floor, wraping and unwraping plastic, stirring something in a mug, found some more plastic and started playing with it again), and so on. I didn't see customers inside besides us, but like 10 other employees making all these noise in front of our room(couldn't make a break for 90 mins?)). Yes, Shangri-La is packed with Europeans who would be visiting this place with pleasure every day, but poor managment made a black hole out of it.
