The 'floating temple' is the park's hallmark, very picturesque. There is a small entrance fee to the park - hopefully the fees are used to repair the walking bridge on the lake, which is in disrepair. Nice gift shop outside the temple for local arts, crafts and postcards.

We started doing a walk which took us around the edge of the lake, some parts were easy to walk others were unfinished and not clearly marked. The park itself itself is small and is dominated by the 'palace' which is just a restaurant. The boardwalks around the lake where the highlight and you don't have to go into the park for them. Note well at time of writing, board walks were under repair, so check before you go. Given the and money the parkland and boardwalks could become a must do in Yangon

This park is really large in Yangon. It has plenty of shops and many trees. Its nice place to take a rest and many people especially couples and family went there. One of the restaurants' name "Karaweik Palace" in Kandawgyi park is famous for cultural show in night time.

They have a small zoo with huge animals such as a Cossoway in tiny cages without food or water. The gardens themselves are terrible lots of dry dusty parts covered in bird droppings and the lake is a lake of green sludge. View the palace from across the lake and save money and time because you cannot enter it and you have to pay to enter the gardens

Had a lovely meal at the restaurant and then looked for the gardens. Unbeknown to us we found a horrible hidden zoo with much larger animals in tiny enclosures. A poor Cossoway bird on its on in a tiny enclosure. Rabbits stuck in tiny hutches. Two peacocks, separately, with absolutely nothing. A tiny tiny enclosure with an iguana, two huge tortoise that looked like they’ve just given up, with NO water whatsoever. Absolutely depressing. Livid we didn’t know that it was a zoo as we of corse avoided the other zoo. Grim.

A very poorly maintained area. Most of the restaurants were closed daytime but many looked permanently closed and derelict. The wooden walkway to view the boat restaurant was uneven with nails protruding. Entry from one side seems 300 k, not the other. The opportunity is the photo of the boat restaurant, quite nice. But what the boat restaurant is like I have no idea, tourist trap prices and likely big groups don't attract me.

While not a major tourist attraction, a visit to Kandawgyi Lake and the Karaweik Palace is worth including in your Yangon visit. You will enjoy some impressive views, especially of the Golden Karaweik restaurant complex across the water. You will also see Yangon locals socializing and exercising in this lakeside open space area. The boardwalk around the lake is under repair. On the southern side of the lake this is largely completed, and the gardens are clean and well kept. Other parts are yet to be renovated and are less inviting. We were there mid-afternoon and decided to have a snack in the Karaweik Palace. Yes it's a cheesy mass tourist place. But it was quite uncrowded and the staff were lovely and welcoming. We enjoyed cocktails and local Myanmar menu items - the potato croquettes and vegetable tempura were very tasty. And it was quite reasonably priced, which was a surprise. So in summary, you don't have to do an expensive buffet or pay for a cultural show to come here. And while there is a charge to enter the park, as others have mentioned, it was only 300 kyat for both of us. I can't see why this is worth complaining about.

It's a park with a couple of great big ducks floating on a lake in the middle of it. They're the royal barge. Apart from them, there's not much that really draws the eye. The grounds aren't particularly well kept and everything looks a bit tired and dusty. There is a view of the Shwedagon but of course, you can see that from just about everywhere. I din't see the nasty little zoo whic others have referred to on this page - glad about that.
I wouldn't rush to fit this in to your schedule if time is tight.

One of the green area of Yangon big city.
As soon as I entered the park, I saw the big lake and golden royal bird style building on the lake .I was lucky that
there was a exposition of flowers and vegetables there. Such a beautiful different colours of nature!!!
Walking around and got fresh air through
Kandawgyi lake.

Not really worthy if you are not visiting the boat restaurant . Otherwise is dirty, on construction and workers everywhere which are not fluent in English (and will not help you to exit of the park if you need it). It was too hot and after walking for 15 mins I realized the way was closed ( nobody told me , basically because we could not understand each other).
