If you are looking for a good driver and guide in Yangoon, then I can highly recommend Mr Zaw Hein. I had Mr Zaw booked for 4 days, and he has made a very good tour with all major attractions together. He has a well-air-conditioned car, was always on time and told me a lot about the country and the people of Myanmar. He speaks very good English so there was no problem with understanding. Also the price level of performance is very good.

Governer's Residence Hotel offers a tour to the local food market, followed by a cooking class and lunch at the hotel. The market tour is definitely the highlight, as the recipes in the cooking class are dumbed down for foreigners and not very authentic. The lunch is simply the dish of the day in the hotel restaurant, again, pretty ordinary food, but beautiful presentation and setting. Take bathing suit and book as you will allowe to hang out by the hotel pool (or in the rather expensive bar) for as long as you like between tour and lunch. Charming service from tour guide/waiter and junior chef; and amazing things to see / buy / taste in the food market. In March 2011 the market tour + cooking class cost $50 - it's advertised on Governer's Residence Hotel website, and you need to call at least a day ahead to make reservation.
