We were worried about these bus trips before we went, however the VIP night bus was excellent, I personally did not sleep but I saw other people sleeping on the bus. They have movies that you can watch- just like on the plane. We took the day bus from Inle Lake to Yangon as the night bus was sold out. It was a long drive, over 12 hours but the seats were very comfortable and it was a nice experience. The only issue was that we had to get a tuk tuk from the JJ express office in Nyaung Shwewe to another location to get on the bus. It was all fine and organized by the JJ express team, it just that we did not know this was going to happen. I would travel with them again.

Hi cailing36, We are also very happy that you like our service. What is most important for us is that guests to our country can enjoy Myanmar without needing to worry much about traveling logistics. After all, our country infrastructure is not on par with developed country and it could be a challenge for the guests to our country. We will be happy more when all these guests including you have a good time in Myanmar and share the experience with your friends and families. "Je zu tin ba deh", with many thanks JJ Express family

We took two bus trips with JJ: overnight from Yangon to Bagan and daytime Bagan to Mandalay. Both were as bumpy as expected, although we slept pretty well on the overnight due to tiredness. There are lots of rumors floating around about various bus trip operators sometimes departing early. This is definitely not true for JJ, nor do they depart late. Both trips were precisely on time regarding departure and a bit early on arrival. One little thing they could improve is the advice from the office staff at arrival regarding reasonable local transport rates. In both cases the local desk staff seemed to be in cahoots with the taxi/tuk tuk drivers to pad the local fares. That’s a shame. On the upside, at least in Bagan, a local pickup shuttle from your hotel to the bus station is included in the fare. That’s a real convenience and a real plus.

Hi beanmanandwife, Thank you for using our service multiple times. About the taxi fares, there is not much we can do about that since there is no such things as taxi meter and the local also has to bargain the fare price. At Bagan, the local taxi reunion objected our complimentary shuttle for hotel drop off, We can only do complimentary shuttle service for hotel pick up. Aside from this, we hope that you have a great time in Bagan and Mandalay to share those experience with your friends and families. "Je zu tin ba deh", with many thanks JJ Express family

The bus ride itself was pretty decent, seats were comfortable (except we had bad experience with another passenger who refused to let us lower down our seats to sleep when all the passengers in the bus were doing the same thing). Also, they provided a snack box and water bottle just like how you get it in plane (quite cool with the trolley concept in a bus).
As the bus station in Yangon is quite far away from the city center, and we found out that there is a shuttle bus that can take us there, hence we opted that. We were told to arrive 30 mins in advance before the departure of the shuttle bus, and so we did, not only did they not depart on time, they departed super late, so we ended up sitting there waiting the shuttle bus for very long, there was no proper seats.

Hi CNee11, Thank you for kind review. We apologize for the inconvenience. We apologize on behalf of the other passenger as well. We normally leave the bus on time. We admit that our complimentary shuttle service is not like the express bus of the actual journey. Thank you for feedback and we will be working hard to improve our service so that guest to our country like you can enjoy Myanmar and share the experience of Bagan, Inlay... with friends and family. We are used to take JJ buses but this time it was a real nightmare. We took the night bus to Yangon and back to Mandalay. The first one was a 2+1 bus and a least they stopped around Naypitaw at a restaurant area where you have access to some food, drinks and decent bathroom. The second bus was the Dream bus, the most expensive they have. It drove from 6:00OPM all the way till 00:30 AM. It was already curfew time. It stopped at 10:00 PM at some restaurant for 30 minutes and that was it. The place where it stopped for the night at 00:30 AM was just some desert near a closed gas station and nothing in there! No food and no bathrooms!!!
People who worked there were horribly impolite. The treatment we received was unacceptable.
Conclusion: Never again! JJ used to be one of the best bus companies in Myanmar. Unfortunately, it didn’t manage to keep its standards.

Had an excellent experience on three trips with JJ Express. Transited from Yangon to Inle, Inle to Mandalay, Bagan to Yangon. All three trips were at night, and all three were comfortable and well run (all three were booked for a 1st class seat). All buses were on time, and shuttle buses were offered at both Bagan and Yangon.

I had the chance to take the JJ Express service between Yangon and Inle lake and it was very well organised. Departed on time from Yangon, we stopped 3 times along the path. Staff was kind, wearing uniforms and helpful. They apply metal tags on luggages not to confuse them with other passengers.
They organised very well our journey, putting people who had to go to Inle lake into another bus going there, instead of Taunggyi.
Only one suggestion:please clarify that the bus station in Yangon is quite close to the Airport and not downtown.
I suggest to book in advance JJ Express!
Thank you!

Hi Excursion55297945122, Thank you for taking time to write detail review. It is true that the bus depart from Aungmingalar bus station outside Yangon near the airport. We also have a complimentary shuttle pick up service in Yangon downtown. We hope that you have great time in Inle where people row the boat standing with their legs. It is an experience to share with your friends and families. "Je zu tin ba deh", with many thanks JJ Express family

We used them 3 times on our journey around Myanmar and all 3 times the service was very good and the bus arrived earlier than stated. The seats are comfortable, there is an English speaking person on board and you get snacks and sometimes even dinner (from Inle to Yangon). The only two issues that I had was the air con is way too cold and you only get one thin blanket to cover yourself and that one one of the journeys there was a constant beeping noise coming from the front of the bus which didn't stop at all for the entire journey. I appreciate that you maybe couldn't fix the noise but the air con situation needs to improve. No reason for the buses to be so cold, it is not possible to sleep.

Hi kazia66, We are honored to be the choice of your transportation service during your stay in Myanmar. We have known about the AC feedback. Unfortunately, local passengers are so used to the cold air con (they are also prepared and they dress warmly for the trip.) We are always in a dilemma for adjusting the temperatures. We will look into the issue once more to find the solution. Aside from this minor nuisance, we hope that you have a great time in Myanmar to share your experience with your friends and families. This was one of the best overnight trips by bus that we've ever made. The bus had only 2+1 seats in every row, so it was not crowded. The chairs were wide and could slide forward a lot. There was space to put your hand luggage, water bottle and snacks. There was wifi on the bus and blankets. The lights were out most of the time for those who wanted to sleep; there was only one stop (toilet break). Very comfy and relaxing.

The bus left Mandalay smack on 9am and cost $12 each. I loved the tv screens on each seat, that was a big surprise. Some really good films too. I watched The Shawshank Redemption and Harry Potter. I wasnt sure where the bus would drop us off but it made a detour to Nyaungshwe, dropping us off at the JJ office about 5pm. Much earlier than I was told. All in all this was a brilliant, comfortable journey and I'd recommend to anyone. Also, we booked our seats in advance on the internet from England which was very convenient, even able to book our seats.

We did Yangon to Mandalay. We were the only people on the curtesy bus from near central train station, which is definitely better than a taxi as it takes you straight to the correct check-in at the huge bus terminal outside Yangon. VIP coach is very comfy (road is poor so not so easy to sleep on a night bus) and stops at big clean service stations twice. At Mandalay we were taken from the main drop off point almost to our hotel. Very good service, but the journey itself is really boring !

Hi MikeFromBewdley, We apologize for the poor infrastructure the country has. We hope that your journey is not defined by your time on our bus but your stay at Mandalay where you can see the moat, palace and ... We hope those are the things you will miss and share with your friends and families. "Je zu tin ba deh", with many thanks JJ Express family
