My wife and I saw this building after Sule pagoda travel. The building was beautiful and different with another Yangon's building. Though no need visiting on purpose, but the building was saw on travel around. The shape of City hall was white and good.

The British involved a Burmese architect (U Tin) in the design of the building. As a result you see Burmese influence especially in the tiered structure of the roofs. Similar to those of the Railway station where the same architect supported the design. At the same time the building is robust and solid. After a make-over it is now colored white, while previously it was yellowish (beige). Interesting to see that already by the mid 1920s British colonial power was making room for Burmese participation. City hall was completed in 1936.

It's not simply that Yangon City Hall is amazing; rather it is the panorama from Mahabandoola Park of Sule Pagoda, City Hall, Aya Bank, Judson Baptist Church and the Law Courts. Much history in one sweep.

Yangon's city hall is a uniquely Burmese complex that marks the country's own cultural landscape. It has a European outlook with traditional adornments like peacocks. The facade also resembles a temple. It is certainly a photogenic landmark of the city.

This hall was designed by a famous Burmese architect of the 1920 & 30s: U Tin. At one level it looks like a solid colonial structure, but the stylised curved roof gives it a lovely Burmese look. It is a functioning public administration building, so you cannot go in like a tourist, but you can take nice pictures from the Maha Bandula Park

Yangon City Hall is a historic building where many event took place.
General Aung San, father of Daw Aung San Su Kyi who is currently the National leader of Myanmar, gave his speech to the public on this balcony of city hall.
