This is a must visit for everyone who wants to escape the busy (and touristy) Shwedagon Pagoda. The Buddha is very large, beautiful and intricate. No entry fees are required, but it is expected that foreign visitors leave a donation.

It was a very nice surprise to us! It is large and impressive! It is from 1909. It has been restored and this is why it looks modern. It is the 9 story Buddha. It is very tall, 22 meters. The gilded dress and the eyes are lovely. The eyes are made of blown glass. It is on Bagayar road. It is far from the other sites of interest in Yangon. We arrived here by taxi from Nga Htat Gyi (approximately 15 minutes). There were no tourists, just locals. It was not crowded. There is no entrance fee. It is a surprising, not well known by tourists, jewel of Yangon!

As expected, you have to remove your shoes and follow proper dress code.

A temple with huge Buddha image and is a historic place in Yangon. One good fact, quiet and comfortable place which is good atmosphere. Bust stop and railways station are also near from the place, easily be transported. The Famous for huge Buddha image structure can be seen inside of this compound.

We arrived here by Circular Train at the Kyeemyindaing Train Station and had to walk about 5 minutes. We just saw a couple of locals praying and offering goods. The sitting Buddha statue is so tall, that they had to raise the the roof for it to fit in. The atmosphere was very peaceful. The compound has other buildings, but this is the main one.
