My first trip with Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes was so terrific that I have returned for a second time! Again, everything was perfectly organised and I have learnt more and more about the history, culture and geography of Myanmar. Thein and Aye Mi San made sure that our every needs were taken into account when organising our trip - from our particular dietary needs, booking hotels, organising a trek and even helped to negotiate with shopping! I couldn’t ask for a friendlier, kinder and knowledgeable tour company and I wouldn’t travel in Myanmar with anyone else. If you want to visit this beautiful country with its beautiful pagodas and countryside and shopping for handicrafts, gems and bespoke clothing, I absolutely recommend Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes. Note that although the first part of my trip was with friends, I then travelled alone and as a lone woman traveller in her sixties, felt very safe and secure with Thein and Aye Mi San. I travelled in January (the Myanmar winter season) but it was still very hot, so make sure to wear loose cotton clothing, comfortable sandals and mosquito repellant. Have some loose trousers for visits to religious sites.

My wife first met Amy on a trip to Myanmar for a group of International school students. She was so impressed with Amy’s ability to handle any situation that we decided to book her company for our personal travel. During our personal journey Amy was away learning and growing her travel knowledge and we were left in the very capable hands of Thein. He is not only an outstanding tour guide he is also Amy’s business partner and husband. Thein met us at the airport and guided us through the rest of our journey. His knowledge of Myanmar culture and understanding of how to convey this information to us with humor and thoughtfulness was beyond reproach. Thein’s recommendations for evening meals, walks, and little local spots of fun were spot on. He was flexible and willing to make anything we wanted happen to add joy to our experience. I can't express how every excursion we went on was informative and one of a kind. Hearing monks singing, walking the pagoda, the market, the tea house, it was all amazing. Thank you Thein for your insights and generosity. As part of our tour we were then handed off to Thiha in Bagan. Again he met us with a driver and showed us his part of the world with the same intelligence and understanding as expected with Mosaic. They had arranged a hot air balloon ride over the temples as well as a few day trips to local markets, villages, but most of all; Thiha's knowledge of the temples is quite impressive. When were returned back to Myanmar for our final leg we were again met by Thein who not only saw us to our hotel, but was also there to take us to the airport in the early hours of the morning to see us off. From start to finish Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes is a first class travel company that feels like a good friend.

Both Thein and Amy of “Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes” were like a brother and a sister to all of us. The Trip : Our trip comprised of two parts. First three days were allocated for a “Katina ceremony” (Buddhist Ritual ) and the last 8 days were allocated for sightseeing. Our group comprised of 30 people both Thein and Amy were there throughout the trip. Tour Itinerary : that was prepared by them was impressive. They did not overcrowd the itinerary with too many places to visit. What we have to remember is that rather than number of places , what matters is the quality of time we spent . Also they were flexible enough to make slight changes to the itinerary where applicable. Communication : Both Thein and Amy are fluent in English . So communication was not an issue. Thein usually talks a lot 😊 and he is full of information and details. As we are first time visitors, Thein’s knowledge is very helpful to understand the context and culture. What is also commendable is their willingness to help us in communicating with the locals. It was a great help specially when it comes to shopping. Travelling : was done through a tourist coach which was very comfortable. As our group comprised of lots of elderly people, Thein was flexible enough to use the bus, even when travelling a very short distance. Memorable Moments : Out of all the stuff in the itinerary, my favorite was giving foods to the monks (Pinda Patha). We were able to give pidapatha to about 200 monks. The other highlight was the day we spent on “Inle” Lake where we visited the villages , tomato farms and temples on water. What is remarkable in buddhist architecture in Myanmar is their willingness to built extraordinary numbers with details. Let it be 1000 of pagodas within one complex or 8000+ buddah statues within a cave. All in all this was a great trip and I would recommend “Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes” without any hesitation. After all both Thein and Amy had the same characteristic of Myanmar people which is down to earth, happy and flexible.

tldr: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 very knowledgeable, genuine, awesome itinerary, became very good friends We came on a group tour with “Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes” (Thein and Amy). This was my first time in Myanmar and it was a combination of Buddhist pilgrimage and sight seeing. We chose Thein based on an excellent recommendation from a friend. It was spot on. They organized the best tour: very thoughtful itinerary, good hotels, great food and a very comfortable bus. The best part was how knowledgeable and well read Thein was. He would explain about history, religion, culture and philosophy. He was very funny and talked so much that that he got a sore throat towards the end 😂. We had a tight schedule and covered many areas within 12 days. But they managed to squeeze in breaks in between so that we were not tired. Our group had people in their early 30s to people in 80s. There took very good care of the elderly, helping them in an out of the bus, boats and carrying their heavy bags after lots of souvenir shopping 😀. The highlight of the tour in terms of sightseeing was Inle lake boat ride and the cave temple with thousands of Buddha statues. Be sure to visit them if you are in Burma. As a Buddhist offering donations to around a thousand Bhanthes at a large monastery in Mawlamyine and offering Pindapatha (which Thein pronounces peanut butter 🤣) to monks in Bagan was the best for me. I want to visit Burma again and would definitely be with Thein. I personally don’t have experience with other other tour organizers, but according to a few on our group who have been to Myanmar 🇲🇲 before with other tour organizers said Thein and Amy are so much better.
