My first trip with Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes was so terrific that I have returned for a second time! Again, everything was perfectly organised and I have learnt more and more about the history, culture and geography of Myanmar. Thein and Aye Mi San made sure that our every needs were taken into account when organising our trip - from our particular dietary needs, booking hotels, organising a trek and even helped to negotiate with shopping! I couldn’t ask for a friendlier, kinder and knowledgeable tour company and I wouldn’t travel in Myanmar with anyone else. If you want to visit this beautiful country with its beautiful pagodas and countryside and shopping for handicrafts, gems and bespoke clothing, I absolutely recommend Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes.

Note that although the first part of my trip was with friends, I then travelled alone and as a lone woman traveller in her sixties, felt very safe and secure with Thein and Aye Mi San.

I travelled in January (the Myanmar winter season) but it was still very hot, so make sure to wear loose cotton clothing, comfortable sandals and mosquito repellant. Have some loose trousers for visits to religious sites.

My wife first met Amy on a trip to Myanmar for a group of International school students. She was so impressed with Amy’s ability to handle any situation that we decided to book her company for our personal travel.
During our personal journey Amy was away learning and growing her travel knowledge and we were left in the very capable hands of Thein. He is not only an outstanding tour guide he is also Amy’s business partner and husband. Thein met us at the airport and guided us through the rest of our journey. His knowledge of Myanmar culture and understanding of how to convey this information to us with humor and thoughtfulness was beyond reproach. Thein’s recommendations for evening meals, walks, and little local spots of fun were spot on. He was flexible and willing to make anything we wanted happen to add joy to our experience. I can't express how every excursion we went on was informative and one of a kind. Hearing monks singing, walking the pagoda, the market, the tea house, it was all amazing. Thank you Thein for your insights and generosity.
As part of our tour we were then handed off to Thiha in Bagan. Again he met us with a driver and showed us his part of the world with the same intelligence and understanding as expected with Mosaic. They had arranged a hot air balloon ride over the temples as well as a few day trips to local markets, villages, but most of all; Thiha's knowledge of the temples is quite impressive.
When were returned back to Myanmar for our final leg we were again met by Thein who not only saw us to our hotel, but was also there to take us to the airport in the early hours of the morning to see us off. From start to finish Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes is a first class travel company that feels like a good friend.

This was my first visit to Myanmar and Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes arranged a memorable, faultless and stress free 3 week trip of a lifetime! Aye Mi San and Thein co-ordinated a personal itinerary that took us to the major tourist sites of Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan and Lake Inle but also to small villages, an orphanage and stunning Buddhist temples, culminating in a blissful 3 days relaxing in the warm seas of Ngapali Beach. We travelled by air, boat and road and in each place, Aye Mi San arranged very knowledgeable and friendly tour guides who introduced us to the history and culture of each site. We ate in local restaurants as well as luxury hotels and had some stunning experiences - the hot air balloon ride over the temples of Bagan at sunrise was unbelievable as was the boat ride on the River Irrawaddy at sunset. Other highlights included the trip to Golden Rock, the craft villages in Lake Inle, the Buddhist temples and caves - too many to name - but I believe we couldn't have experienced so much and gained so much insight into the lovely friendly country of Myanmar without this first class tour company.

Mosaic Tribes of Myanmar checked and double checked each stage of our trip which was incredibly useful and reassuring given the frequency with which plane departures changed according to weather conditions; they arranged an itinerary which met our every request and made it smooth, wonderful visit to a beautiful country. I cannot recommend them highly enough and would definitely use them again!

Tip: If you are bringing any US dollars, make sure they are brand new - marked or old dollar notes aren't accepted.

Both Thein and Amy of “Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes” were like a brother and a sister to all of us.
The Trip : Our trip comprised of two parts. First three days were allocated for a “Katina ceremony” (Buddhist Ritual ) and the last 8 days were allocated for sightseeing. Our group comprised of 30 people both Thein and Amy were there throughout the trip.
Tour Itinerary : that was prepared by them was impressive. They did not overcrowd the itinerary with too many places to visit. What we have to remember is that rather than number of places , what matters is the quality of time we spent . Also they were flexible enough to make slight changes to the itinerary where applicable.

Communication : Both Thein and Amy are fluent in English . So communication was not an issue. Thein usually talks a lot 😊 and he is full of information and details. As we are first time visitors, Thein’s knowledge is very helpful to understand the context and culture. What is also commendable is their willingness to help us in communicating with the locals. It was a great help specially when it comes to shopping.

Travelling : was done through a tourist coach which was very comfortable. As our group comprised of lots of elderly people, Thein was flexible enough to use the bus, even when travelling a very short distance.

Memorable Moments : Out of all the stuff in the itinerary, my favorite was giving foods to the monks (Pinda Patha). We were able to give pidapatha to about 200 monks. The other highlight was the day we spent on “Inle” Lake where we visited the villages , tomato farms and temples on water. What is remarkable in buddhist architecture in Myanmar is their willingness to built extraordinary numbers with details. Let it be 1000 of pagodas within one complex or 8000+ buddah statues within a cave.

All in all this was a great trip and I would recommend “Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes” without any hesitation. After all both Thein and Amy had the same characteristic of Myanmar people which is down to earth, happy and flexible.

tldr: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 very knowledgeable, genuine, awesome itinerary, became very good friends

We came on a group tour with “Mosaic of Myanmar Tribes” (Thein and Amy). This was my first time in Myanmar and it was a combination of Buddhist pilgrimage and sight seeing.

We chose Thein based on an excellent recommendation from a friend. It was spot on. They organized the best tour: very thoughtful itinerary, good hotels, great food and a very comfortable bus. The best part was how knowledgeable and well read Thein was. He would explain about history, religion, culture and philosophy. He was very funny and talked so much that that he got a sore throat towards the end 😂.

We had a tight schedule and covered many areas within 12 days. But they managed to squeeze in breaks in between so that we were not tired. Our group had people in their early 30s to people in 80s. There took very good care of the elderly, helping them in an out of the bus, boats and carrying their heavy bags after lots of souvenir shopping 😀.

The highlight of the tour in terms of sightseeing was Inle lake boat ride and the cave temple with thousands of Buddha statues. Be sure to visit them if you are in Burma. As a Buddhist offering donations to around a thousand Bhanthes at a large monastery in Mawlamyine and offering Pindapatha (which Thein pronounces peanut butter 🤣) to monks in Bagan was the best for me.

I want to visit Burma again and would definitely be with Thein. I personally don’t have experience with other other tour organizers, but according to a few on our group who have been to Myanmar 🇲🇲 before with other tour organizers said Thein and Amy are so much better.

I recently had the pleasure of taking a one-day tour of Yangon with Thein which was nothing short of an exceptional experience. Thein's in-depth knowledge of Myanmar's history and culture is coupled with the rare gift of being able to narrate this to foreign visitors. I have visited more than 30 countries over the years, including more than 10 visits to Myanmar and can attest that I have rarely had the pleasure of spending a day with a guide of Thein's calibre. Our tour covered some of the key landmarks, like the Shwedagon, but also included visits to sites that are rarely seen by the average tourists, like the observing the life of the monks in a Bhuddist monastery.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to Myanmar by a friend, and had an unforgettable experience organised by Aye Mi San and Thein. I was very impressed with the care and dedication they took to make sure we experienced the best of their culture, in a way that allowed us to be free to do what we wanted. Travel was seamless, including flights, negotiating airports, and cars. All our hotels were arranged with no problems. I would highly recommend Mosaic, Aye Mi San and Thein to anyone wanting to get a have a rich cultural experience. Their knowledge about all the areas we visited was very interesting, and their written & spoken English is excellent. Myanmar is also perfect to visit in January- dry & not too hot. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

We were a group of 5 that had different agendas and differing lengths of stay in Myanmar. Aye Mi San and Thein managed to co ordinate a wonderful itinerary that suited everyone.
There was much ferrying to and fro from the airport as different members of the group were picked up and dropped off. This was handled with great efficiency and professionalism.
The guides provided were excellent.
If you want to meet these wonderful people of Myanmar chose this company. You can't go wrong. I'm coming back....

This tour company organized an amazing trip for me and my wife. Ms Aye Mi's attention to detail was incredible. She took so much care to find out exactly what kind of hotel we prefer and found a great match. The driver was exceptional: although not an official guide, he spoke excellent English and knew all the sights. He took us to extra places that we did not expect to see, like the other side up/down Zwekabin mountain that very few tourists know about. Overall we had a wonderful experience. This company is exceptional. I have no hesitation in recommending it for a brilliant trip in Myanmar/Burma.

What can I say. Aye Mi San and Thein Than Phyo always manage to arrange a fantastic and memorable trip each time I visit Myanmar. No matter how many times I return, they have some new part of the country to share with me and some new aspects of their culture to reveal. All combined with reasonable prices and engaging and informed staff. Truly the best tour company I have ever employed. You won't go wrong trusting Aye Mi San and Thein Than Phyo with your Myanmar travel plans!
