About Sa Ba Street Food Tours
Our Yangon walking food tours, trishaw tours & cooking classes are a fresh look at Yangon's traditional food for the culinary and culturally curious traveller. We love food & proud to share what Yangon has to offer. We started these food tours in early 2017 because too many visitors miss out on this mostly undiscovered side of Yangon life. Eating a huge variety of dishes at safe, handpicked vendors, passing through fascinating neighborhoods & side-streets, sharing, eating & chatting about life in Yangon. It's an honest introduction to the food but also our culture & past. All tours also include a street market so we can show what goes into your dishes & what some locals put into theirs. Aimed at those who use food to explore the places they visit & encounter the real people of the land. Our Yangon street food tours show you our favourite side of Yangon by eating good food and broadening your understanding of a unique food scene and unique city. By the way, "sa ba" means "eat please"!

The Best Markets of Yangon Tour

As far as we are concerned, Yangon's Markets are among the greatest attractions of the city, where hard working locals keep the city supplied with exotic produce and daily commodities. The nature of these social hubs have a far more special place in the community than soul-less supermarkets or shopping malls and it's Sa Ba's pleasure to take you right into the heart of these fascinating theaters of Yangon market life.

We've chosen our must-see markets. Places full of energy and atmosphere where photo and learning opportunities are in abundance. Each market is different from the last so we can give you a truly all-round grass-roots experience while getting the chance to eat some delicious food, people-watch and immerse yourself in the real Yangon.

What you'll see:
San Pyar Fisherman Docks

The Banana and Coconut Jetty

The Spice and Produce Market

Bogoyke Market (closed Mondays)

Mohinga Breakfast

The evening tour was a lot of fun and by the end my belly was full. We visited so many different spots and ate so much delicious food. We visited restaurants, markets, and street food spots, they were all fantastic, and there is something for everyone - sweet and savory. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly, beyond the food, it is a very good introduction to downtown Yangon life. Highly recommend.

This should be a requirement for all that visit Yangon. I can't believe I waited almost a year since arriving in this beautiful city to do this! This was so fantastic. Included amazing breakfast food, rich history lessons and a 101 class on traditional market shopping. I learned about all the vegetables I constantly see and didn't know what they were or how to cook them. Highlights: a 45 year old bakery and their coconut pastries, traditional Burmese tea and tea leaf salad at a tea house, coconut grinding for flour and cream in the wet market. Now we cant wait to do the evening tour. 10 stars! *We went with my 3 year old and she loved it as well and could easily keep up!

We met our guide Kyaw for our evening street food tour last night, we were a group of 4. We enjoyed the street foods that Kyaw took us to, the food was interesting and different and we would never have discovered the variety of foods had we not taken this tour. We had around 10 dishes to try through out the evening, my favourite was the pickled ginger salad which just happened to be located up the street from my hotel (which was convenient for a return visit). Kyaw explained about the spices and the different areas where we travelled, we loved the areas around China town and Indian town. Very enjoyable evening with an knowledgeable guide his chef knowledge was very handy when we walked around the fresh food market. Would recommend that you do this tour on your first night to get a good idea of Burmese street food. Thank you Kyaw.

We loved the Sa Ba Street Food Tour in Yangon! If you want to experience the real local food of Myanmar, you have to do it! No touristic food in some shops! It’s local, real and super delicious street food. Our guide was a former chef and we loved his enthusiasm and knowledge about the different food dishes. We tried 10! different dishes and everything was the best food we ever had in Myanmar. We tried most of the dishes during our further travel in Myanmar at other place, but with Sa Ba it was the best. We also learned a lot about the people and the culture! If you know the local prices of the food, the tour is a bit expensive, but I still think worth the money!
