We first started working with Tamarind Travel 6 years ago when we were planning a trip to Myanmar. We sent an email to a few travel companies in Myanmar and Cho Cho from Tamarind Travel responded immediately. We told her what we were looking for and she proceeded to put together a fabulous Asian adventure incorporating culture, physical and adventure into our itinerary. Since then we have travelled all over Asia and we always use Tamarind Travel and Cho Cho, I strongly recommend Cho Cho and Tamarind Travel for all your Asian experiences.

I’m an Australian who has been living in Asia for the past 20 years, during which time I’ve taken dozens of “personalized” private tours in eight or so Asian countries. Cho Cho and her team at Tamarind are the most professional, efficient, and thoughtful agency I have ever worked with. Firstly, she really listened to what I wanted and put together an itinerary based on that, not just some cookie-cutter cluster of readymade packages. She understood what type of hotel I liked, and what kind of suites I preferred, and made it happen. Secondly, Tamarind’s team of private guides were fantastic. They all we’re soon able to gauge what I was interested in and what I was not and tweaked the itinerary to suit me. Ni in Bagan was particularly adept at this, taking me to some out of the way pagodas that he knew, with my interest in restoration techniques, I would find fascinating. They all were also very knowledgeable, but not in that kind of boring professorial way; they had wonderful senses of humor, able to intelligently discuss broader issues, and were genuinely interested in seeing I had a great time. Thirdly, when something went awry (only once), Cho Cho was able to make things right again, with no time wasted and no effort on my behalf. Magical really. Ill be back to Myanmar and DEFINITELY using Tamarind again.

After a long (delayed) flight from the UK, we arrived in Yangon to find Cho Cho waiting for us with a sign and a big welcoming smile. We were greeted by our very friendly driver, as Cho Cho gave us a quick run down of our 2 week itinerary before we were taken to our hotel. Th next two weeks took our breath away: we trekked from Kalaw to Inle, explored Inle with one of the most amazing guides on planet Earth (thank you, Joyce), carried on to an absolutely paradise of Ngapali beach and finally ended up in Yangon. Cho Cho has been as welcoming on our departure as she was on our arrival. We ended up feasting on local delicacies together just hours before our departure home. There had been issues along the way (such as our first hotel in Yangon burning down weeks before we were due to arrive), which Cho Cho sorted, seamlessly, without cost to us. Finally, on our last day, Cho Cho took us to dinner (insisting on treating us despite our best efforts), and we had the most wonderful chat about our trip, before she gave us some beautiful departing gifts. As people who enjoy to travel, and enjoy organising our own itinerary more so, we can’t recommend Cho Cho highly enough. She allows as much tailoring as you want. Please visit Myanmar, and when you do, be sure to pair up with Cho Cho - you won’t regret it!

Cho Cho (Jewel Chowin) should be everyone's go-to person for travel in Myanmar. We have traveled extensively in SouthEast Asia and we usually do all of the research and arrangements ourselves. For Myanmar, we made the decision to have someone on the ground - and it really paid off. From the very beginning, Cho Cho was incredible - she wanted to know what we liked, didnt like, our travel background, our interests, etc. I sent her some thoughts of my own and she weighed in honestly and professionally - editing some (she thankfully saved us days on the Irawaddy) and added locations (Mrauk OO and the Chin villages). When internal flight schedules changed just a couple weeks before our scheduled departure, Cho Cho completely rearranged the entire 2nd 1/2 of our trip to get us to every location we had originally planned for. We could never have done this without her. From the minute we landed in Yangon to the minute we left, through every airport, her amazing group of guides welcomed us, shepherded us, taught us, led us, and charmed us. Each and every guide whisked us through airport check-in (we took a lot of internal flights), were flexible with the itinerary (based on weather, moods, etc) and the corresponding drivers were also excellent. Thank you cho-cho and thank you to all everyone you arranged to guide us. The trip was everything we imagined and hoped for. And you made it all possible. Kzie zu ba Peter + Brian

I spent 10 days in Myanmar (Bagan, Kalaw, Inle and Yangon) and got in touch with Cho Cho who's incredible. She organized my hot air balloon tour in Bagan which I highly recommend and my trek from Kalaw to Inle which was an incredible experience. I had the occasion to visit typical Shan villages and meet local villagers. My guide Sunshine was amazing, very helpful, sharing and made my experience really good. The chef that accompanied us was incredible too: great food! I really recommend Tamarind Travels & Tours! Also people who are concerned about security issues in Myanmar shouldn't be worried. It is really safe and Burmese people are incredibly friendly! Go and visit this amazing country!
