Mergui Archipelago, located in southernmost part of Myanmar (Burma), comprises over 800 beautiful islands. Due to its virtual isolation, the islands and surrounding seas are alive with an amazing diversity of flora & fauna and very beautiful underwater scenes and marine life.

The only human inhabitants in the area are sea gypsies, namely Salon in Myanmar. They live on boats during dry season and remain on land during rainy season. They still practice the same fishing and boat building techniques used for generation.

Forget Whitehaven Beach this the last untouched Paradise!

A Dream comes true. It is definitely one of the last untouched spots in the world. Every Beach is really white and the water is chrystal clear. Go there before it's to late.

What can I say?? This was our 5th trip to Myanmar and we did the Mergui Archipelago with the Mergui Princess first time. Water was clear though abit of sealice. Our guide Jo Jo was exceptional in knowing where the good fish & coral was at what island. I have snorkeled alot of Australia & the mix of fish species... More

If considering a boat tour on the Mergui Princess through the archipelago (booking through Asian Tours): Expect excellent communication with Zsa Zsa, at the office. The tour was also very well-organised at the Kawthaung end. Don't expect a safety briefing of any sort. Do expect small groups - the boat has berths for six (one room without a shower and... More

We have searched for a place that would at least resemble Thai sea when we visited it for the first time almost 25 years ago: beautiful sea and beaches, good food, and above all, no tourists. Discovering the Mergui Archipelago seemed to fit all the criteria. With very few companies operating there (and most of them being luxury yacht charters... More

Most of these islands here are unexplored. Accessibility from outside world can be done by registered tourist agencies. Although it's European name "Mergui" refers to Myeik in Myanmar or Marit in Thai, the islands are preferred to be approached via Kawthaung. The highlights included Moken village at Ma Kyone Galet (မကြုံဂလတ်) in Bo Cho Island (ဗိုလ်ချိုကျွန်း), the oldest mangrove forest... More

Whether you're an adventurous beach bum or lazy mermaid, I'd recommend traveling the Mergui (Myeik) Archipelago with Intrepid on their comfort catamaran trip. Why? Beautiful, comfortable boat, experienced English speaking skipper, cook, crew and guide, eco-friendly delicious meals and policies and customizable itinerary based on the tides, winds or your whims. Pick up is conveniently in Phuket, and the company... More

We took a trip on the Meta IV in the Mergui Archipelago. The Trip started in Kawthung, the southern peak of Myanmar. A very warm atmosphere gave us a nice welcome on the boat. From the start we have been spoiled by the crew and especially the chef. He created in his kitchen phantasmic surprises for each meal we took... More
