- CateCharlestown, Australia106 contributionsGreat place for a half day visitThis was great for a half day visit. We just paid for the swimming ($13 Australian) The water falls are mini falls but still great for a swim and a cool down. The cafe is very cheap food and tasty. There are two swimming spots.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 3, 2023
- Paul FHervey Bay, Australia360 contributionsA great day out.For convenience, we booked our visit here through our cruise ship, if you want to save some money but have a bit more hassle, you can get here directly with a local taxi from the port. It's a reasonably short drive from the port and once there, we were ushered efficiently across to where we dropper bags and got into climbing harnesses. The bags were all taken down to the river where we'd end up. So that's convenient. Once harnessed up, it's a short walk through the bush with a guide pointing out the local fauna. At the river, there are three bridges to traverse, each one longer than the next. They're only a couple of metres up in the air, but a bit wobbly and bouncy. One or two people we saw were a bit uncomfortable going across. The last part is a flying fox before jumping into the clear waters to cool off. The final part of the experience is an opportunity to taste some of the local fresh fruit and peanuts before heading away. It's a well organised, safe, family-friendly day out in a fabulous location, which I'd highly recommend.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 6, 2023
- _swiss_miss_hiBrisbane, Australia123 contributionsGreat walk in the rainforestJust a 30 min ride from the Port, we arrived at Eden, which is not only the bridges walk but also a farm. After a warm welcome, we were inducted into the harnesses. The instructors had very good English and patient. A short walk down to the river, stopping along the way for a description of the local plants, and we had arrived. The staff were very helpful and stationed at each of the three bridges. The bridges are well maintained and sturdy. Make sure you stop along the way and observe the scenery as it is breathtaking. After the walk we had a quick dip in the river which was refreshing. Short walk up the hill and some fresh local fruit was a wonderful end to the morning. Toilets were clean and tidy (flushing type) and also a shower available. Food and drinks available for purchase on site. A great experience!Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 30, 2024

Beautiful view whilst going along the circuit. Felt very safe. Our lovely guide talked us through native plants and their uses on our way to the circuit. Fruit platter was yummy.
Mini golf was heaps of fun.

Our driver took us to the front entrance....and then we saw the prices
You have to be joking
To walk across the bridges....6,400Vatu. That is about A$70 each!!
A$47 each to get into the petting park
A$40 each to try the fruit and see the flowers
Never
Vanuatu is expensive but this is just silly. Greed run rampant
Drive on please

Hi, I apologise for the time that it has taken me to reply but it has taken me this long to register with Trip Advisor as the owner. I am sorry for you experience and we have already taken steps to fix the problem. The prices quoted to you were for our guests that book through the hotels and require pick ups. As a new business we are trying to make it simple but we now realise we need to be able to offer special prices for people that make their own arrangements for travel and bookings, The prices you were quoted include the 15%commission we must pay the booking agents and transport. If you are ever back in Vanuatu please feel free to contact me and I will be pleased to give you a FOC tour

This place was a gem, from the minute we arrived we were made welcome by Carolyn. As we waited for the next group which was only 20mins,Carolyn gave us complimentary tea/coffee and cold drink which gave us time to spend with the animals, which were all characters.Safety equipment all in good working order and a great little tour and then suspension bridge climbing/walking over cascading waterfalls then a 17m zip line at the end.Much to my husbands and 13yr old amazement i did it,it was unreal and then a refreshing swim in the waterfall at the end, crystal clean icy cold water You could stay as long as you want and do the bridges and zip as many times as you want, once was enough for me but my husband and son did it again. Then when you are done swimming/jumping in waterfall you make your way back down to the entrance area where you have a gorgeous platter of exotic fruits and fresh lime juice. What a fantastic way to spend a few hours in Vila. And best of all not crowded like Mele waterfalls.Would recommend for any age group 5 and up,only 17km from port vila,so don t let cab drivers tell you its an hour away on otherside of island they are just trying to get more money off you negotiate a price for the day.

HI Sandra, thank you for your kind word we really appreciate the time our guests take to write their reviews. Eden on the River is a new attraction since our last visit to Vanuatu and we found it a little difficult to get information on this before visiting, so hopefully by writing this review I can be of help to others. We booked our own transport to Eden and just paid entrance to the Bridges and a swim, plus a fruit platter and juice after. Cost for this was 4400Vatu per adult (around $50AUD), compared with about $75AUD if we had booked it as a tour through Eden. We booked our private transfer with Around Vanuatu Tours and the return cost for 5 of us to our accommodation was about $44AUD total. We spent just over 2 hours here and that was enough time to walk the suspension bridges (the kids went twice), have a liesurely swim in the rock pool after and sample the fruit platter. The guides are all very friendly, their english is good and they are very informative on the walk down to the river. They are very professional in instructing how to put on the harness before the bridge walk and doing a safety check. The equipment is all in new condition. The guide also carries a first aid kit, rescue kit and satellite phone for emergencies. However, the bridges are a very safe and easy walk for all except the elderly and very young. The bridge isn't very high but does have some sections which have quite large gaps between steps - some of the sections are solid and some are spaced planks. The flying fox at the end is suitable for all. I wouldn't recommend this for someone who suffers from vertigo but otherwise it shouldn't be a problem. The swimming hole is quite deep - adults can't stand so children need to be reasonable swimmers or have flotation devices. This is not a challenging activity, but it is a fun way to spend a few hours.

Thank you for taking the time to review our product, I do apologise for the difficulty in gaining information on our tour, we are in a learning curve that is extremely steep. We do have brochure in the resorts but there is sometime a problem about maintaining stock. Also we are about to change our pricing structure, as it is now more common for people to hire cars or negotiate their own transport so the new pricing will reflect this. I am pleased that you enjoyed your day. I will pass your comments to the tour guides, they always appreciate hearing the feed back

To start off I’ll talk about our experience of getting to Eden on the River. As a well traveled couple I’m not into paying for a fancy tour or extra cash to be cattle’d along to somewhere so we set off with some basic knowledge of the area and which way we were heading.
The busses in Port Vila are abundant but varied. When asking to be taken there some were asking for as much as 6,000vt for a journey I knew should only cost around 350vt each so be wary! One taxi driver even shouted at me when I laughed at this price and sped off.
After doing a little more research, I discovered that if you got a bus to Bon Marché from Port Vila for 150vt, you could then literally flag another down and go to Eden for 200vt.
Always have change, and I’d not ask for a price and just give them those amounts otherwise they know you’re not a regular bus user. These are set prices for the areas of travel.
On our arrival at Eden, it was a long drive down a dusty track to the main reception which was set in an untouched jungle area. The entrance fee was 1,000vt ($12AU) each and then we did the bridges of Eden tour at 2,200vt ($25AU) each.
We were shown to the changing/ toilet block which was just the other side of a play area. This was clean and well maintained.
We then put on our safety harnesses, were given a bottle of water each and were lead along a short path by our guide and down to the river where we hooked onto the first safety line and made our crossing. The bridges snaked over the crystal clear water and brought us to a short zip line to finish. Our guide left us at this point to enjoy the various river pools with a small inflatable ring.
After an hour of floating in the crystal clear water and enjoying the current from the small waterfalls we headed back to the cafe where we were enjoyed a mixed fruit platter (included) whilst we dried off in the sun.
Before leaving, we went to the Animal park behind the cafe. This was a little unmaintained but had some lizards, chickens, goats, sheep and a cow.
As we had made our own way to Eden, we had to walk back to the main road to flag down a bus back to town. This took around 15 minutes and was a relatively easy and pleasant walk.
The price was a little steep in my opinion, but the the staff at Eden were very friendly and made us extremely welcome. Thank you.

We travelled in a group of 6 to Eden in the river. We were greeted by a tour guide and a very friendly dog! After an introduction and safety check we made our way down to the cable bridges. Fitted with a harness you make your across several suspension bridges before finishing with a flying fox. After this we all had a refreshing swim in the river. Before our day ended our tour guide showed us through the gardens where she informed us of the plants and their native uses. We also got to sample some local fruit before departing. Due do cyclone Pam some fruit was not available to try but it was still a really great experience.

We have had some rain this week and the trees are looking a lot better and we hope to have our fruit back on track within a couple of months. The staff and management wish you a Happy New Year

While a bit of a ride from Port Vila (we were P&O Cruise guests) we even enjoyed the trip as our van driver was super friendly and informative. It was a hot day, so the refreshing dip in the crystal clear waters was superb. The surroundings were beautiful; it's well-named as Eden with all the fruit and produce being produced on the property. After the walk and the swim, we were offered free samples of some very unusual fruits. There was a fair bit of laughter as we decided which ones we liked, and which ones we thought were, er, "interesting tastes"!

The staff were very welcoming when we arrived and the walk through the fruit trees informative. Sitting down to try the tropical delights was an enjoyable experience.
The walk to the river was easier than the climb back up but was worth it for the refreshing dip in the water.
Being a fair way out of Port Vila the bus ride was expensive as there is no bus back except to keep your bus & driver waiting. Perhaps this made the trip there and back pricey. If you have a hire car the experience would possibly be OK price-wise.
The cost of doing the walk was also too expensive for what was on offer, a 30min walk through an orchard.

Hi Colin, I'm pleased that you enjoyed your experience even though you found it expensive. Unfortunately the transport is very expensive and there is nothing we can do about it. This is the reason we have now removed the cost of transport from the price of the tour , so that people with a hire car do not have to pay double. There is no difference in prices if the bus waits for you or if they return to pick you up. There are way too many buses so none of them are making any money, but there is no will within the government to fix the problem

I highly recommend the Waterfall Eco Tour at Eden on the River as it's not as crowded as the Cascade Waterfalls, which most people choose to visit. The hike to the waterfall is also downhill and not as steep as the hike to the Cascades, so this tour is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. My small group of 9 participants had the river and waterfall at Eden all to ourselves, which was lovely. :)
After a short trek down through the rainforest, where we were taught about the uses for various native plants (e.g medicinal uses) we were free to swim in the river or float on inner tubes and even had an opportunity to swim underneath the waterfall.
After our refreshing swim (the water was lovely) we each were each offered a coconut to drink. After a short walk back up to the main center our tour guide cut up a huge platter of fruit grown on the premises (e.g passion-fruit, grapefruit and star-fruit) for our group to try. All the fruit I tried was delicious.
Also a huge thanks to Peter "the Rock" our driver, who gave a fun yet informative running commentary about the sites we passed in Vila, while on our way to Eden on the River. :)
I'd definitely revisit Eden on the River to try the Bridges of Eden Walk, which other groups on my cruise raved about. :) For a real taste of Vila, get off the beaten track and visit Eden on the River. :)

We went to Eden on the River in October 2013 and went late in the afternoon and it was awesome! The water was a bit cool but refreshing and still nice to go for a swim after we walked along the bridge which you are harnessed to and then end with a flying fox! They also have an awesome kids playground area which is really cool and takes you back to how playgrounds were when you grew up and the petty zoo is really cool too, especially seeing one day old lambs!
We are now living in Vanuatu and had friends come over on their honeymoon so we decided to take them to Eden to have the same experience as we did and if we hadn't planned on going around the island that day we probably would have stayed there all day. We went there in the morning and as the weather was a bit warmer the river was perfect to relax and swim in for ages. It was so peaceful and you could just stare up into the trees and feel like you are in heaven. Walking along the bridges it was awesome to take photos of the amazing scenery and crystal clear water holes of the river.
After over an hour of sitting in the tyre rings they supplied and exploring the river pools, we got out feeling so clean and refreshed. We were then presented with a big platter of fresh local fruit and fresh lime juice, all which was grown in the gardens of Eden.
The owners and staff are so nice, welcoming and their knowledge of the plants in Eden and historical stories is something you will take home with you.
Only being a smooth 15-20 minute drive from town it is definitely somewhere we would go often and take any visitors we have to Eden on the River.
I have been to cascades waterfalls many times before and I think if you have to choose between the two, Eden on the River will win for sure! So much more natural and the feeling of an untouched paradise.
If you are coming over on holidays or live here, this is a must do!!!

Good morning,
I am coming to Vanuatu in December with my grandparents. They are not very mobile and could not complete a walk. Is there anywhere for them to sit and relax near the water and maybe go for a swim?
Also, are you still catering for Christmas outings?
Written May 26, 2019
There are stairs (some steep) to the water so I don’t think would be suitable. It is also a bit of a walk.
Try Rarru cascades next door. There is seating near river as you walk in. Definitely would be ok

Written February 15, 2019

Written February 18, 2019
Driver,
What would l expect to pay for a driver or taxi in your currency to get to Eden on the river. Would they be reliable for a return trip. Thank you
Written May 13, 2017
Good Morning!
It's quite a difficult question as it depends what else you want to do.
But to give you some idea, we contract a bus driver with a lovely, well maintained bus , who will bring you out for $100. On a day where there is no cruise ship, for guests coming from hotels etc, it's about $50. I have heard of people paying $200 for the day, this is quite expensive.
On the low side, you might get one for $50 on a cruise day, they MAY wait for you...might not. You need to be absolute clear about what you want to do, where you want to go and always ask to see their bus or taxi first. They are open to negotation, but if you are not happy, there are many to choose from. A bad bus driver will ruin your day, so it's important to spend time on choosing the right one, especially if you are going to have them for the whole day. For a quick run into town, it might not make too much difference...

Is the zipline operating again?
I have also been to Efate a number of times and haven't heard of this attraction, maybe you could advertise some more.
Can you tell me where you are located?
Thanks, will see you next week sometime.

Good morning,
Our group of 4 adults will be arriving on December 3rd by cruise ship ( royal carribean) and we were wondering if we can enter Eden for a swim only. If so, is there a time limit and do you accept Aus dollars on the day.
Thank you Steve.

Hi, I'm trying to get some information about visiting Eden on the River.... I've emailed 3 times in the last week via the web site but haven't heard anything,
Is it possible to just visit without doing one of the tours? Eg. Can we arrive any time, do the bridges, do the tyre float - without booking into one of the advertised time slots? Also will you call a taxi for us when we are ready to leave. -there will be 6 of us.
Many thanks
Angela
