5/5 this tour was the highlight of our Vanuatu holiday.
Firstly, our pilot Olivia was amazing. She managed to fill us with confidence, before taking us on the most spectacular scenic flight over the volcano.
After we landed in Tana we were met by our drivers who took us to a local village, followed by a tasty lunch. It was such a great experience.
Then it was off to the volcano, past lots of friendly locals.
Our drivers were very professional and the cars were air-conditioned.
And of course the volcano was spectacular! Breathtaking!
Wonderful day out! We loved it!

I was on the overnight trip to Pentecost for Nagol land diving. The whole trip was organised and run so well by Olivia. Getting to see Vanuatu from the small plane is almost worth it alone, the island flyovers are truly spectacular. The land diving itself on Pentecost is an amazing, authentic experience and you feel very much welcomed by the locals. We also had plenty of time to relax on the beaches of Pentecost, Epi and Lamanu. So much of Vanuatu packed into two days - definitely go on this trip if you get the opportunity.

We chartered a plane with friends to Gaua island, via Santo (refill fuel stop). Smooth check in at Port Vila airport. Then we chose our seats and I was lucky I got to sit next to the pilot!! Yay! Our pilot Olivia (bless her) she was so great! So informative about Vanuatu islands, culture and personal experiences. Very friendly indeed. Gaua greeted us with lots of rain and the landing I felt wasn’t easy, but Olivia did so well, no one felt uneasy I’m sure!
Highly recommend to visit Banks islands with Unity Airlines!

Could not recommended this company at all. Continually altered our departure times them waited 2hrs to inform us that we were overweight despite having those details much earlier. The staff have no idea what's happening you are likely to receive different stories from different individuals. Our return trip was worse at one stage they told us the the flight had been cancelled all together and was being to moved to the next day? We then hurriedly proceeded to make alternative arrangements at additional cost only to find they had decided to send a plane after all. I attempted to contact them the following morning to discuss the matter and they refused to both return or answer my phone calls and voice messages. Extremely poor business ethics. Once they have hold of you money beware they will keep it regardless of whether you are satisfied with the outcome.

The team at Unity were very efficient and communicative helping me organise a group of friends to travel to Gaua. Sebastien was in regular contact giving us plenty of options and was very flexible with our plans. Once we made it to the airport, our pilot Olivia made the whole experience come to life! She really made the trip fun, not only getting us there safely, but also assisting with activities whilst we were on the island. What an awesome adventure!!

We flew with Unity from Port Vila to Tanna on one of the best family holidays we have ever had. This was largely due to the amazing pilot Olivia. She was so welcoming to all of us and an inspiration to our daughters. Our girls were very lucky to have the chance to ask her 101 questions whilst staying at White Grass Resort. Olivia gave us absolute confidence for first time travellers on a smaller inter island plane. She is now officially a household name. The flight was sensational and in particular the tour around the Volcano. Tanna is truly a special place with beautiful people. It is rich with culture and landscapes to bare witness to.

Amazing outstanding service flying with pilot Olivia and Unit Airlines.
She was very helpful the whole time looking after us and everything else.
More than a pilot is what you want for those kind of tours, she was amazing!
Thanks Olivia

For a day activity in a place that is very western for pricing this trip is well worth it. It is almost the same as the trips by Unity Airlines and indeed you will all be picked up at the same time, fly at the same time, drive at the same time, and be on the volcano at the same time. The planes are cozy but offer really nice views. The pilots are very experienced and do a great job. I'll get to the wild bit later and focus on the wonderful first. We took the daytrip to the Volcano option and I'll gladly do it again. After an hour flying you land on a great runway and are taken briefly to Evergreen Resort where your car journey begins. We went on a very windy day and I dont want to ruin it by concentrating on that....we stood on the rim of an active volcano and watched in quiet awe at the magnitude of the forces driving it. For days I kept saying I stood on an active volcano. You will just have to experience it....wear or bring a hoody and if your soft then wear long pants just in case its windy. I am sure at night time is even more amazing and I would so like to do that trip next time. The flight back had an electrical issue where our navigation went down and when we landed on the grass we had a fire engine chase us just in case...apparently a newly installed instrument was at fault. The plane itself kept flying and the pilots knew the area well so please don't stress too much.....We stood on the rim of an active volcano so its not the most life threatening thing to happen that day. The pilots acted like they were meant to, no one panicked and we landed safely. Like they say...any landing you can walk away from is a good one. Oh, and did I mention active volcano.

This trip was the highlight of visiting Vanuatu everything ran on schedule and smoothly, the 4WD trip out to the volcano was fantastic, the food at the resort was delicious and everyone was really friendly. There were 2 families, 8 in total and nothing went wrong. I would highly recommend Unity airlines and staying at Evergreen Resort. Don't be so close to an active Volcano and miss it! Warning - glasses are a must to stop the ash getting into your eyes.

Dear Jackie,
Thank you for your wonderful straight to the point review. We’re always so happy when our guests have an amazing visit to the volcano. I also think that’s great advice about the glasses. We hope you come again to Vanuatu!

This is one tour I am so pleased I have done in my lifetime! WE traveled by ute or pickup over bumpy roads with a few stops aloiing the way on 'moonscapes' etc The villagers along the way were so friendly too and I got some great photos. But the highlight was climbing to the rim of the volcano and feeling the power and explosion! We saw a piece of molten rock the size of a car thrown out of the volcano and it glowed for AGES - the power of nature! A must see for the adventurous traveller

Hi, I want to book the overnight Tanna Volcano tour & can't decide between Air Taxi & Unity. Unity guarantee 2 engines (which makes me feel safer), however Air Taxi include a flyover of the volcano, which sounds awesome & I don't believe Unity do a flyover. Did you get a flyover of the volocano when you did the overnight tour with Unity?
Thanks! Appreciate your thoughts!

Vanuatu is a safe country and our tours always travel in groups. So you would be joining several other travellers in a group of 6 to 9 people. It also makes the trips more enjoyable.

Hi Unity Airlines. Please tell me more on your trip to Tanna from Port Vila as a day trip. Is it land based as well or do you just fly over the volcano? Planning a trip November. cheers
Written July 8, 2015
Hi Shazm,
Our Tanna Volcano Day Tour starts off in Port Vila and guests fly to Tanna and can see some wonderful scenery along the way. After landing there's a great 4x4 safari ride to the volcano. By early afternoon you'll be standing on the crater's edge to watch the volcano in action.
We've recently added a cultural tour to volcano tour so you'll also be able to watch a custom warrior dance and learn about traditional village life in Tanna. The cultural tour takes place in a village on the way to the volcano.
Cheers!
Steve
