What a great place to grab a coffee and support the locals. The Tanna Coffee Central Factory on Mele Road is open Monday to Saturday. Robert showed us around and gave us a history of Tanna coffee. We watched the grinding and separating of coffee beans.
The hand made tables out of old pallets are sensational.
Also available are cakes, pizza and slices.

We really loved visiting Tanna Coffee factory. People were so nice and welcoming and they explained how this genuine coffee growths in Tanna vulcanic Island and how is transformed. There are also a shop and a bar restaurant where to have lunch and taste coffee, that is really delicious.

Really enjoyed our visit for morning tea and a great coffee. We were greeted with a brief explanation of the coffee journey and process which was interesting. I enjoyed a delicious, beautifully presented carrot cake and my hubby enjoyed his toasted sandwich in a nice open air cafe with lovely sea views down the driveway. Brought some coffee home with us and a lovely, value, hand painted art work on hessian sack. Well worth a visit.

The tour was very rushed. Very little explanation of hour they grow and produce the coffee, or the roasting process. Luckily i already knew this information but my sister knows nothing about coffee production so she gained nothing from the tour.
The guy was probably knowledgeable but not trained to run tours. maybe there was nobody else to do it that day.
So basically it was a two minute “tour”, we spent more time selecting coffee beans to bring home.
The cafe had some items we would have tried but they were busy with quite a few customers for a small venue so we didn’t order anything. We would go back to try out that cafe at a later date.

We enjoyed lunch here out on a breezy, shaded cafe deck in the garden - delicious homemade pizzas cooked in a pizza oven. Service was fast and friendly. The coffee was superb and our teens loved their milkshakes. We enjoyed the coffee so much we popped into the old church next door to see how it was made, then bought a large pack of ground coffee to take home. It comes sealed and labelled, and meets Australian border security requirements. There are 3 types of coffee roast available - dark, medium and espresso (a combo of the two). They’re sold packaged up with a choice of beans, ground coffee, and N’espresso compatible capsules. The location is on the Ring Rd, just before Devil’s Point Rd turnoff, less than 10 minutes drive from downtown Port Vila. The road isn’t the best after the airport roundabout (lots of potholes) but still manageable in a car, and it’s a pretty drive if you keep heading west and north.

Very rushed 'tour' of factory, perhaps because I was a solo visitor. Showed and told me very little about Vanuatu coffee and the production. I had to ask questions to actually see the equipment and get more information. The factory guy was disinterested in my visit. But was happy to show me to the sales items and restaurant. Larger groups might get better attention.
It is a nice area and pleasant sitting on the balcony with a coffee. A bag of coffee beans is a good practical gift to take home (a taste of Vanuatu), and better priced to buy here than in town. Though there were the same prices at one of the handicraft shops at the airport.

We had visited this place in 2020 and decided to return for the great coffee and staff.
Originally just out of town and a short bus ride away, the roasting house has moved to new premises quite a distance out of town and there is limited bus access. We didn't know this and were dropped off without return transport.
The new premises are smaller and the arts and crafts that were for sale at the previous premises are no longer available.
The staff are still wonderful and the short tour through the factory interesting. Top off the tour with coffee and cake in the cafe.
We were lucky to have one of the staff drive us back to town when they were doing deliveries. Wonderful hospitality and great to support the local coffee industry.
You can buy Tanna coffee at the local supermarkets to take home and support the local economy.
Well worth the trip along the dirt road.

So good we went twice haha! Enjoyed the woodfired pizzas with a beer. Kids loved the muffins and milkshakes. Great spot for food/drink in a historic scenic site. Next door is a small church (1900s) that is now used for roasting beans (great smell!) and selling produce (bags of beans, honey, coffee pods, tshirts etc). Worth an hour or 2 visit. It is out of town so tag it onto a day tour or you will need to use a bus or hire car.

We did a drive around the island and stopped off at Tanna Coffee. The manager showed us around and explained how the coffee was made. It was very interesting.
Our group of 4 had coffee and cake that was very tasty. It must be good as even our driver stopped off and had lunch with us.
Well worth visiting as lots of things to look at (and buy) like quality coffee, oils etc

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ **Tanna Coffee - The Best Coffee in Vanuatu!**
If you’re a coffee lover, **Tanna Coffee** is an absolute must-visit when you're in Vanuatu! It’s hands down the best coffee on the islands, and it quickly became our go-to spot every single morning. The rich, smooth flavor of their coffee is simply unbeatable, and it’s made even better knowing it’s grown locally on the volcanic soils of Tanna Island—truly a one-of-a-kind coffee experience.
Not only is the coffee amazing, but the **owners** are some of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Their warmth and hospitality make every visit feel special, and they go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome. Whether you’re grabbing a quick cup or sitting down to enjoy a relaxed breakfast, they make you feel like part of the family.
Speaking of breakfast, the **food** here is just as wonderful as the coffee! They offer a variety of fresh and delicious options that pair perfectly with your morning brew. And don’t leave without trying their **honey**—it’s absolutely divine! Sourced locally, the honey has the perfect balance of sweetness and is a fantastic addition to your coffee or toast.
Tanna Coffee is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a true Vanuatu experience. Between the world-class coffee, the incredible hospitality, and the delicious food and honey, it’s a place we looked forward to visiting every morning. If you’re in Vanuatu, **Tanna Coffee** should be at the top of your list!
Highly recommended, and we can’t wait to come back for another cup! ☕🌸🍯
