Felt that this experience was definitely a TOURIST one. Wouldn’t recommend for people who genuinely want to have a great snorkelling experience. The current was far too strong. The underwater post office experience is tacky and outdated! Also very deep and hard to reach against...More

Accommodating and sweet natured resort that goes out of its way to host well. There are some special extra features like movie nights and an underwater PO Box & a marine park. The rooms are beautiful and above expectations in all cases but particularly so...More

Disappointed and left after an hour. Restaurant was closed and the snorkelling visibility was pretty ordinary and not much to see. Beach equipment and furniture old and needs replacing

The reef would have been absolutely beautiful around 20 years ago. Unfortunately tourism has damaged the reef along with probably environmental factors The island is making a concerted effort in attempting to reseed the coral by placing structures for new coral growth. The outer bommies...More

We spent the day here and thoroughly enjoyed the snorkeling. Lots of areas to snorkel. Food and drinks nice. Costs about $20-$25 AUD to come on island which we thought was expensive but everywhere you went in Vila was expensive!!

We went over to snorkel and it was great. A cheap easily accessed place to snorkel with a great lunch available. Would go again.

We made our own way to Mele Beach, lost count of the number of potholes on the way but it’s Vanuatu and expected (for now!). Stopped off at the Beach Bar, asked for assistance. Very helpful! Apart from a very noisy boat ride over, we...More

After visiting Mele Cascades we caught a local bus to the Hideaway Island transfer pier. Which is clearly posted on the main road. It was only a short trip from Mele Cascades. We paid 150 Vatu each. A boat runs continually between the Hideaway Island...More

We left our stuff stowed under the beach loungers, and didnt have any issues. We went on a non-cruise day, so it wasnt very crowded, and went on our own using the local buses - cost 500 vatu each way per person (~AUD5), and... More
Myself & two boys (14 & 9) will be arriving by P/Dawn to Port Vila at the end of Feb 2018 - the Half day North Efate Snorkelling Adventure states it's $100 pp - have heard that it's relatively easy to find your own way by going to the road & getting a free taxi there yourself; are they really free? I'm not good at directions nor can I speak French; so v nervous about it. We want to be coming away with the most wonderful experiences but want to not pay for a tour if it's just as easy to find our own way - or is it best to pay/book a tour if your novice at it all? We want to post a card at the underwater post office - is it easy to find where to purchase these, if not with a tour? Also really want to go to the Blue Lagoon on the same day is this possible? and do the Big Zipline Track - we unfortunately only have a day visit; so your opinions on what is doable/recommended would be gold. Thk-u.

Hi. Hideaway Island is well worth the visit. The snorkeling there was the best we experienced in Vanuatu. Lots of fish and easily accessible pretty close to the beach. The taxis certainly aren't free but they are very... More
