Spent an entire day in Hideaway and wanted more. The entire experience in, out and under the water was inspiring. Reef shoes are required for beach walking. The food is good and cheap. The glass bottom boat was magnification.

If you’re in Vanuatu a visit to Hideaway Island is a must do experience. Never have I seen so much colourful marine life. They also boast the worlds only underwater post office where you can dive down and send a post card anywhere around the...More

A free ferry takes you from outside the Beach Bar (there are no scheduled times but the ferry’s are frequent) across to Hideaway Island. The ferry takes about 5 minutes. You can rent snorkelling gear and flippers which makes getting to the underwater post box...More

OK, THIS IS NOW THE TOP OF MY MUST COME BACK TO DO LIST! We only spent a day here but the Super friendly staff made us feel so very welcome. Food and cocktails were fabulous and the snorkling was out of this world!

We were on an small island with a bar and food and warm water, what more could you ask for. There were lounge chairs, shade and cold beer. It was worth the $10 for the boat trip to get here.

Visited the resort mainly to post some postcards in the underwater post box. Beach was littered in plastic debris, seems strange they give plastic straws with their drinks that could end up in the sea. Food was ok, western style, beer was cold.. The snorkling...More

Expensive and coral is very dead and not really that many fish. Definitely need thongs or reef shoes - no sand on this island!

As I was here in 2015, I thought it would be great to see the resort again and see how the reef was recovering. Unfortunately neither the resort or the reef seem to be progressing. I'll start with the resort - It seems that in...More

We left our stuff stowed under the beach loungers, and didnt have any issues. We went on a non-cruise day, so it wasnt very crowded, and went on our own using the local buses - cost 500 vatu each way per person (~AUD5), and... More
Myself & two boys (14 & 9) will be arriving by P/Dawn to Port Vila at the end of Feb 2018 - the Half day North Efate Snorkelling Adventure states it's $100 pp - have heard that it's relatively easy to find your own way by going to the road & getting a free taxi there yourself; are they really free? I'm not good at directions nor can I speak French; so v nervous about it. We want to be coming away with the most wonderful experiences but want to not pay for a tour if it's just as easy to find our own way - or is it best to pay/book a tour if your novice at it all? We want to post a card at the underwater post office - is it easy to find where to purchase these, if not with a tour? Also really want to go to the Blue Lagoon on the same day is this possible? and do the Big Zipline Track - we unfortunately only have a day visit; so your opinions on what is doable/recommended would be gold. Thk-u.

Hi. Hideaway Island is well worth the visit. The snorkeling there was the best we experienced in Vanuatu. Lots of fish and easily accessible pretty close to the beach. The taxis certainly aren't free but they are very... More
