Shady Beach

A place to rest after walking/taking the bus back from town to the hotels on Anse Vata beach. Cool breezes and shade were needed by tired parents and children after a day in town.

Doesn't compare with an Australian beach. About 3 mtr of sand then grass. But you can snorkel and see some lovely fish

very small narrow, sheltered beach, the tide goes out a long way and one end of the beach is covered in rocks. Lots & lots of cafes and bars across the road from the beach means it very commercial. The sand is not very wide, there is a grass verge to lounge on if you don't like sand. Good place... More

This bay is not as easy going at Anse Vata. Has loads of different places to eat and a nice bay but I think Anse Vata has a nicer feel to it and set up with shops for icecreams etc makes it more enjoyable. This people in 20's would enjoy more.

Great sheltered spot. Nice water and shade or sun spots. Shops and places to eat close by. Windy at Anse Vata but not here. Will be back as sheltered area and what a winter getaway is all about.

Relaxing beach for swimming and wading. Close to cafes, restaurants, drinks & ice creams, and a wonderful place to blend with and/or meet local people.

We stayed right at this beach and enjoyed safe swimming, shady areas to sit, outdoor showers and toilet at beach. Also plenty of eating places to choose from. Lovely views especially in early morning and evening. Lots of locals use the beach not just tourists!

Coming from Australia most beaches do not really measure up, but Baie des Citrons is a pleasant enough beach and frequented by the locals. It would be the main swimming beach for Noumea, even preferred to Anse Vata. The beach is clean and the foreshore pleasant and there are showers provided for a rinse off after the salt water.

The beach is not too far from the center of Noumea and there are a lot of restaurants and bars lining the beachside boulevard. However, the beach itself is not that special. It is narrow and the sand is not that white. I think the best part of this beach, is that it faces directly west. So it is a... More

Great snorkelling on the left hand end, a pontoon to jump off. Shallow for the first 20 metres for the less confident. Free showers beside the beach. Crystal clear, clean water as you move away from the beach.
