There is a real happening buzz here - lots of young people and tourists eating, drinking and enjoying icecream at Amorino. It felt good to experience this atmosphere after the relatively quiet and more sedate ambience of the nearby Anse Vata area. The sunset here is also gorgeous - be sure to take a photo.

Not far from Anse Vata, the beach at Baie Des Citrons seems to have even more cafés and restaurants. The beach itself is picture post card perfect, a crescent of sand with rocky points at each end, palm trees behind and warm clear water for swimming. After swimming, there are many bars, cafés and restaurants in which to relax. A... More

We stopped at Lemon Beach on our "hop on hop off" bus tour. It is quite close to the centre of Noumea. At the section of beach that the bus dropped us there was some kind of drainage work under way, which spoiled the outlook. The sand was not very clean and the water was too cold for us to... More

If you're looking for a touristy beach, with restaurants and shops, you've found it. I prefer something quieter, so we only stopped at Le Rocher, a crepe restaurant overlooking the beach, wonderful view, quiet without the hassle of the beach below.

Doesn't compare with an Australian beach. About 3 mtr of sand then grass. But you can snorkel and see some lovely fish

very small narrow, sheltered beach, the tide goes out a long way and one end of the beach is covered in rocks. Lots & lots of cafes and bars across the road from the beach means it very commercial. The sand is not very wide, there is a grass verge to lounge on if you don't like sand. Good place... More

This bay is not as easy going at Anse Vata. Has loads of different places to eat and a nice bay but I think Anse Vata has a nicer feel to it and set up with shops for icecreams etc makes it more enjoyable. This people in 20's would enjoy more.

A place to rest after walking/taking the bus back from town to the hotels on Anse Vata beach. Cool breezes and shade were needed by tired parents and children after a day in town.

Great sheltered spot. Nice water and shade or sun spots. Shops and places to eat close by. Windy at Anse Vata but not here. Will be back as sheltered area and what a winter getaway is all about.
