When I have my Gap Year, (I'm 61) I'm going to be a Lie aux Canards taxi boat driver. It's a short trip from Anse Vata but fun. And the island is nice too. Sure you have to pay for a couple of beach lounges...More

Ok, so the island itself is very close and easily accessible for a visit. Water is nice to swim in and it could be a pleasant break if you are prepared. Unfortunately if you are looking for value for money this is not the place...More

We were staying at Le Meridian and the taxi picked us up right outside the hotel which was a bonus. New Caledonia is very overpriced so paying $30 each for a 5 min boat ride was to be expected, unfortunately. The kids like the ride...More

After staying on L’Escapade Island for four days and doing the Amedee day tour, how disappointing ☹️.. $30 for a 5 min return trip with water taxi and then they wanted $50 for two lounges and umbrella. You’re stuck, because no other shade there. Drinks...More

The fun starts with the 5 min water taxi ride over to the island. Renting snorkel gear and a shady spot to spend your time takes a little while. The snorkeling is great, heaps of fish swimming around you and beautiful corals. Lots of food...More

The day I went there were only 2 taxi's running - and there was a ship load of people there. Hence we waited approx 1.5hrs either end. Do not go over in bad weather - the ride is very uncomfortable and scary.
