The city of Noumea has evolved after a few years and became like any other city a concrete jungle. Lucky for it's inhabitants, there are still a few green areas such as Coconut squares which gives some breathing spaces to it's citizens as well as free wi-fi. It seems that nobody works on Sunday because it is the day of... More

We wandered around for a few hours. This is a good addition to swimming at the Bain de Citron Beach. Within walking distance of each other

City square type place, free WiFi,so good place to catch up on social media,if,like us,didn't buy an internet package on board.Lots of indigenous youngsters meet here,& I don't recommend being here after dark. The white French were quite rude, once they knew we were tourists."Place of Coconuts" in English.

Most of Noumea is lovely. This "park" is a dump. The shows around the square cater to the poor and lack any charm. I expect that it is safe enough but there is no reason to visit.

This was a nice rest stop during a busy day. They have free wifi and plenty of places to sit for a while. Lots of shady trees for hot days and some nice little eateries too.

Good traditional pasta, and wood fired pizza. Perfect for teenagers. Friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed.

This square is lovely. There is a bandstand at one end and lovely trees throughout. There are also fountains. The square, though, seems a bit devoid of daily life. There are not a lot of stores, restaurants, cafes, etc around the square which leaves it a bit barren.

On two trips I have checked out Place des Cocotiers and nothing seems to happen here. It's an area were locals hang around but nothing to offer tourists.

If it weren't for the massive gathering of cyclists around the fountain we wouldnt have been sure we'd arrived at the right place. Maybe it was due to the fact we visited on a Sunday and the city seemed deserted but this was not at all what we were expecting to find. There was a bit of a neglected, ghost... More

Place des Cocotiers is at the very centre of Noumea. All of the buses travel through here, and on days where cruise ships are in town there are also taxis. The square is not a destination in and of itself, but is close to a number of the city's museums and there are restaurants/cafes nearby. There are lots of coconut... More
