There's plenty to do and see here. Upstairs I bought t-shirts and saw nice linens. Downstairs I bought various fruits and a few souvenirs. The market apparently opens very early and is mostly done by 1pm. Go on Saturday. Closed on Sundays

It is a joy to walk through this large Central Market hall. The enormous veriety of foodstuffs, vegetables, fruits etc plus on the first floor the many stalls with clothing or other hardware items is well worth visiting.

Of course one must visit this place. But Surinam sadly is economically so much sliding down, even the fish is not displayed on ice... There is the North hall for Marrons: be there before 10.30 because the herbs then still smell fresh. The South hall...More

Worderful experience, close to all other shopping. Take the children, sample the local fare and fell free to suport the locals they work very hard to make a living. Take nothing for granted life is to short.!!!!

Huge activity. A whirl of market merchants. Sections of vegetables, fresh fish, live crabs. live chickens, fruits, spices, too much to mention.
