Asunción has another feelings. Really poor country but everywhere is cool. You must see this places and you will really love it. Specially old town has good energy. Also old buses are so cute. Asunción has own feelings. Just go and get it.

This is the largest plaza that's still open and available to visit in the city centre and has a small market selling handicrafts, as well as shoe shiners, flag sellers and locals enjoying a rest. Not a whole lot going on, but nice enough spot...More

you may want to bargain a little with the stand owners.... :p but bear in mind many of them depend on their livelihood solely with these crafts, so bargain a little but please do not get carried away too far!! Have fun!

Plaza de la Independencia is not very well kept and has been taken over by the street vendors, and later on at night by some shady characters.

Rather than a destination this is a plaza more to walk through as you are moving from one attraction to another Nice sculptures but not a place where locals gather other than for protests

Plaza Publica de la Democracia as it is officially called nowadays is in the old section of town. It means that after 6PM the place is rather quiet, not to say deserted. In the weekend the surrounding shopping areas and banks are closed. It is...More

Plenty of poeple walking around, typical indigenous and national souvenirs to buy but also typical hippie stuff. People having their refreshing tereré sitting on park-benches.

This is a central plaza in Asuncion and it's full of life. There are people selling stuff, kids are playing, there is music, vendors and just some strangers hanging out. As other reviewers mentioned, the plaza looks a bit run down, the dogs look hungry...More

Like most plazas in Asuncion, this one is marginally clean and in need of a facelift. During the day the plaza is lined with numerous craft and t-shirt vendors.
