Well worth a visit even if you only do a drive by.
Well maintained and nice place for a short visit.
Not sure how it got the name.
Beautiful nonetheless.

This is a nice place for having a panoramic view upon the city. They changed a bit the colors of the church and there is not only white, they added some yellow. It looks good, but it was better before in my oppinion.

We saw this nice church on our guided tour with Gate1 Travel just before going to the Candelaria district . The Egipto area is not one normally visited by tourists and this is the only reason why this church is not very popular !

Walking to this church it will provide you panoramic views. The place is much more cleaned than in the centre and is very safe.

This review is more for the Egipto tour we did, than it is for this church.
This church is the beginning of the trek into Egipto for our tour, which was one of our highlights. I think this is the kind of place you do not want to go to on your own without guides. I found out about this tour on TripAdvisor through a tour company called Destino Bogota. The call this tour the "Breaking Borders Tour." This tour is led by former gang members, and their 'entourage.'
This is one of the most amazing tours I've been on any vacation. It was quite something to be in the Egipto favela, hearing the gang members' stories of what went on, and seeing the favela homes/neighbourhood up close. We were with three reporters from 'Vice,' who took so many pictures and took notes for an article on the tour and neighbourhood.
The tour through Destino Bogota was not cheap, at $72 USD per person. But it was a very long tour (about 5 hours or so, when it was supposed to be 4), included an English guide (since the gang members do not speak English), and hotel pick-up drop off. However, everyone wants a tip, so there are about 6 people you feel obligated to tip (on top of the tour price). This includes the Destino Bogota guide, the Destino Bogota driver, two former gang member Egipto guides, plus their two 'under-studies.' This really adds up.
We later found out that you could book this tour directly with the former gang members, and thus pay significantly less than what we did. You can find them on FaceBook if you look up "turismoegipcio10ma". For those who are Spanish-speaking, you may want to consider this option, and cut out the middle-man company taking the huge cut.

This is a cool spot that's close to historical Candalaria but not a lot of people visit. It's up a bit of a hill but well with the walk for the views and to see a colonial type area that's not full tourist mode..... the church is nice too. Oh and there are some cheap lunch places as well.... do it!
