I'm very glad I took the tour of this beautiful theatre. It is one of the most beautiful theatres in the world and I'm sure you will enjoy the trivia your tour guide will share about this place. There are 2 tours daily. One at 12pm and one at 2pm.

One of the most beautiful theaters in Southamerica. All painted, in a magical area as Downtown Bogotá, in a place full of history. I´ve been here for a piano recital and orchestra concert. Hopefully someday for an opera.

The theater is offering a backstage tour of the theater to show the beauty of this venue since its renovation a couple years ago. I recommend it a lot. It isn't expensive, and you get a guided tour, in English and Spanish, of all the theater, having the opportunity of taking in all the details that you might miss if you go to see a play or performance.

Not as grand as the theater by the same name that I'd visited in Buenos Aires about a year prior to this one (a smaller building compared to that one, no "grand staircase" as at that one, and the "main performance room" only about 4 levels here compared to about 7 levels of the similar room in that theater), the "best part" of the tour of this theater though (a "guided tour" for the duration of a little over an hour) was getting to see that main room "from above" (which wasn't the case at the one in Buenos Aires). And while at the "topmost-level gallery" besides that nice view of the entire floor of the Theater's main room looking down was also a great "close-up view" of the circular ceiling above, and yes it was just quite a bit more awesome I would say to see the "art-full ceiling" of a theater's main room in such way than to just see it from a seat down below (which usually was the case among my 3 other theater visits in Buenos Aires, Montevideo & San Jose in Costa Rica where I would just say it wasn't a "detailed view" of the beautiful grand ceilings of their main rooms). And also kind of a generous part of this tour was being allowed "on the stage" of the main room (from which to walk down a few steps to the room, at the last part of the tour) which is just an "ideal spot" for a great photo-op with both the entire room & the grand circular ceiling above. So yes, a theater tour offering the most of what they have (in my opinion), its admission of about 20,000 colombian pesos (which is about 6 or 7 US$) was just a "totally worthwhile" one.
And nearby, at just a very short walk from here (first to the right after coming out then to the left just at the end of the block) is the entrance to Museo Colonial with its 2 levels of pretty great displays about the "colonial era" of the country (including the "info displays" quite well-written that you can actually learn a fair bit about that period in the country's history); and also at just about a 5-minute walk from this theater (also to the right but just straight without turning at the end of the block) is the city's "main plaza" Plaza de Bolivar quite spacious & just totally wide-open (except for the statue of Simon Bolivar at its center) and where along one side stands the city's "main cathedral" Catedral Metropolitana (a "long & imposing" structure for a pretty great view from the Plaza and with also a "fairly decorative" 2-part interior).

The architecture structure and details are really well kept, the whole place is a historic and architectural jewel. A plus if you go for an opera presentation.

This is one of the oldest theaters in South America and certainly the oldest one in Colombia. It's in the central Candelaria district, secluded in a tiny street.
Bearing the same name as the famous bigger one in Argentina's capital, it's built in the same classic style.

The backstage tour of this magnificent theatre is certainly worth doing. The theatre was modernized backstage while retaining the colonial glory and gilded interior of the past. Considered byt the BBC as one of the top ten opera houses in the world.

Built in the late 1800's the Colon (named after Christopher Columbus), has been recently restored to its Italianate style. It is small by the standards of, say, Lincoln Center but it is a jewel and definitely worth seeing even if you may not be able to attend a performance.

I recommend to take the guided tour at 3 pm (Wednesday and Thursday). You're going to learn a little bit more of Colombian history.

Quiero ir a un concierto y deseo comprar la mejor ubicación. ¿Qué es mejor para ver y escuchar bien la orquesta? ¿platea delantera, palco lateral o palco central?

We had ours by special appointment. So the best is to randomly sneak in when they are selling tickets and ask for the privilege of having a glimpse.
