Hands down, this is the best natural area close to Bogota (1.5 to 2 hours by car), and considered the largest paramo (moorland) in the world. Local hiking groups such as "Sal Si Puedes" or "Caminantes del Retorno" sometimes have organized weekend hikes there, which you can join. Check their website for schedules. Otherwise, you would need to organize your own transportation. Normally the weather is cool, cloudy and drizzly, but the day we went it was freakishly sunny. The views were spectacular!

Went to Sumapaz form Pasca on a motorbike - quite an adventure.

No surfaced roads - so it was a very bumpy journey.

We went up to 3,800 meters - which is probably the lowest elevation to see the paramo flora. Need to be aware that some people can get altitude sickness from 3,500 metres.

they are no facilities in that part of the parc so I would recommend to plan your trip carefully or to use a tour guide. It's definitively out of the beaten track.

Visited to see paramo bird specialites. Apolinar's Wren and Green-bearded Helmetcrest seen. Bogota Rail present and vocal, not seen. Elevation is c 5000m so go steady. The paramo habitat is excellent, only downside seems to be the use of road through NP by HGVs.
