This church is very picturesque and offers a great photo opportunity with the mountains in the background. On the inside the church is impressive and boasts a very large golden alter that is worth checking out.

Although the material structure verges on the parochial colonial it offers a majestic central nave with fine gild-woodwork and refined splendour in good proportions. The ceilinged St Joseph is of interest and the overall effect of restrained not apsidic space

We walked by the church a few times while on our walking tour, and really thought it was beautifully designed. The yellow color makes it stick out from the surrounding buildings.

If you can not find this church just ask any local: 'iglesia de la Candelaria?' It has been there since 1703 and due to its size it has been a landmark in the Candelaria neighborhood. Saved from the bulldozers in the 1960s the church survived and was extensively restored in the period 2003 - 2005.

The main facade is made up of two towers between which the entrance provides access to the central nave. Inside there are sculptures of various saints, paintings depicting scenes from the bible and Baroque style ornamentations. For someone from "Protestant" Holland where an extensive iconoclasm took place after which the worship of idols was a taboo, this church feels like a bit too much.

The yellow edifice of this church makes it stand out in the city as almost all the other churches are brick, stone or white washed. Inside there are a lot of gold side altars as well as the main gold altar and surround that really are all very impressive. The ceiling fresco is unique in all Bogota churches. Free to visit, but the church only seems to be open around mass times.

Very Beautiful from the outside, at the Candelaria neighbordhood. Was closed when I went, and located in a somehow dangerous area (feels dangerous at least).

This church is located in the heart of La Candelaria, it is one block away from the Botero museum, the coin museum and a modern museum (they are all in a row and are connected and for free). This church is beautifully located against the mountains and if you are at the right angle you can make a shot with Monserrate in the back. The church itself is small but I really like the ceilings. All in all a really nice church to calm down and have a break from all the loud buses that race through La Candelaria

Situated in the ancient district that takes it's name from it, this church is an excellent example of Hispano-American religious art, in the building and the images inside. Worth the while!

Although pretty from the outside, the interior with the golden altar is far more impressive. It is among the prettier churches in the Candelaria area.
