Great large park with runners and bicyclists (although not at all crowded on a weekday). Also many dogs - mostly off-leash but 100% well behaved I was astounded. Nice lake too. Great break from the crowds and traffic. Surrounding neighborhood safe but uninteresting.

Simon Bolivar is roughly the same size as New York Central Park, with the exception it is dissected at numerous points by big roads. It gets super busy at weekends, so arrive early if you are wanting to park a car, otherwise there are plenty of entrances a taxi can drop off at. There are free concerts, families having picnics and playing football, dog walkers, runners etc here, and although safe it pays to be a little careful if you are straying away from less populated areas.

Colombia knows how to build great parks which are generally way better than we have in the U.S. Lots of open space, well kept and green with some beautiful views. A great park for outdoor lovers. Be prepared though, you have to actually pay money to use the restroom.

I visited on a Saturday early in the morning and it wasn't bad, considering that Bogotá is very filthy and polluted in general. Here at least you can breath clean air. After midday it gets very very crowded with noisy families and peope selling things

There is a lake. Nice walking area. It is good to spend few quarters of an hour on your way to the botanical gardens.

My boyfriend and I went to the park today at about 4pm only to find it was shut this afternoon (and tomorrow afternoon, not sure if this is a regular thing) for fumigation. We decided to go just across the street instead to a pretty looking place with small manmade hills and blue flowers overlooking some mountains, here, 2 teenage boys approached us and asked if we wanted to buy any marijuana, we said 'no', and then they pulled out 2 knives and asked for our bags. We ran away, fast, and told local police. According to someone who lives nearby this is the only really dangerous place around and we managed to find it in our first afternoon in Bogota, well done us.

We went as a group to the park on a Sunday in October 2014. We joined a pick up soccer group just for fun. Left my small backpack on the sidelines. After 3 minutes of play I turned to check by bag, it was gone! Beware of thieves. It's really everywhere in the city, can't trust anybody. At the park, people go in family groups to steal. They sit by the trees and scout visitors for easy theft of belongings. Lost my phone, pair of expensive shoes, wallet, drivers license, money, etc. NOT TO MENTION, the park was loaded with police, we saw the Colombian president 5 minutes before inside the park as he was heading out. Has got to be one of the filthiest cities and parks I've ever visited. One star, for lack of zero rating. Thank God we weren't robbed or mugged at gunpoint as it constantly happens in Bogota. People get stabbed just getting mugged for coins. Avoid coming here like the plague!

This park is really nice for lengthy strolls. One has a nice view of surrounding hills. There are plenty of kiosks to get something to eat or drink. Prices are reasonable. There is also an option to kayak in the pond, but as far as I know they only operate during weekends. During weekdays the park is certainly not overcrowded. There are large patches of grass and greens and lots of fir trees. The park is a center of tranquility in a normally very busy city.

Great place to spend a sunny day wandering around. There is a lake where you can rent rowboats, tons of playgrounds for kids, lots of sports fields and plenty of tracks and paths for walking, running, biking or skating.
