Masterpiece of architect Rogelio Salmona, who always used local bricks for his buildings. The library is located in a beautiful park with lake and nice paths for walking. Good plan for a relaxed day.

great library, with fantastic resource for children, both inside and outside. It's right on the edge of the park. There's a rollerblading track. Inside, is a good children's section and a nice café. It's one of the nicest designs for libraries, or for public buildings in the city. It's worth stopping by.…

Yes, it's just a library (boring!). But the surroundings are more important than the books and even the cool architecture. Walk the building (it's free) and then take a look at the park. If you don't have enough time to go through Parque Simón Bolívar (right across the street) and the day is sunny enough (lucky day in Bogotá), you can see the amazing mountains of the city from here, in a quiet environment, far from tourists. Even outside of the library, this is a great spot to sit and read, which is what I normally do: take a 15 minute walk from home and forget about the world. Mornings there's a lot of professional rollerbladers practicing around the library and weekends some families gather with pets.…
