This place is a nice stop if wandering Candeleria. A joint effort between Mexico and Colombia, the bookstore here is massive and impressive. This is where you can come to find your Spanish language books, especially art, culture, children’s, and cookbooks.

This open plaza is home to a really lovely open space in which there is plenty to do. In the centre there is local art and surrounding the place there are a few restaurants, cafes and the cultural centre itself which is warm and relaxing.

This cultural center has a great cafe, bookstore, and rooftop terrace with great views of the city. For those who are die-hard GGM fans and those who are not even sure who he is, you still have something you can enjoy here as a quick stop when touring around the city. Not a lot to do here, but it is a nice spot.

Unfortunately I don't have anything good to say about this place.

My main purpose to visit Bogota was to see where my hero, Gabo lived and worked for many years. I wanted to buy books and mementos, anything of his!

The place was unwelcoming to say the least. Its a bookstore and only a small corner was dedicated to Gabriel Garcia Marquez. They did have many books but that was it.

The staff was so unhelpful and rude, they knew nothing about him and they actually made the experience even worst. I bought a few books because I had come from so far away, but it was NOT worth.

It actually doesn't seem to be any celebration of Gabo anywhere. Made me so sad.

Honestly not worth going as it is a giant commercial bookstore without any exhibits or information about Marquez himself. Was very disappointed.

We happened to be walking by and saw a free dance class on the terrace. We stopped to watch and then joined it. The instructor was great and we learned basic Cumbia steps. We never went inside, but the outside was great!

Being here, in this centre, it means a very nice experience for the soul. If it happened to be Mexican music, you can imagine yourself in Mexico.

Built in 2008, architect Rogelio Salmona, in the historic center of Bogota.

The design is basically two circles of which the smaller one, has a pond with a fountain in the middle. If you go up the stairs there is a view on the mountain range towards the east. Standing in the middle of the main circle an acoustic effect can be triggered, as the northeastern wall echoes a sound. There is an art gallery, but it is closed most of the time.

GG Marquez, the great South American writer almost has the status of a saint. Usually saints get a statue and an altar in a church, or a chapel dedicated to him or her. In this center there is nothing like that, not even a plaquette with simple information or a place to leave a message. Garcia Marquez died in 2014. I wonder if he liked this center. He probably was delighted that Mexico, where the Colombian born writer lived most of his life, paid for it. Recognition after all.

The building is beautiful and is located in the middle of the city. The bookshop is extensive. There is a Juan Valdez coffee shop and a temporary art exposition.
If you are looking for anything related to Gabriel Garcia Marquez, you will not find.

Beautiful library and interesting visiting exhibitions. Good spot to add onto a visit to the historical district.
