We visited 3 pubs and 1 micro-brewer and had fun trying different styles of beer as well as different breweries. I liked some, disliked others, but received a good education on what's out there. Well organized. I had no idea there were so many options near home for good beer!

Due to a Craft Beer Festival, I was not able to book the full Beer Tour. However, Tommy offered me and another couple an informal craft beer tour which we all immediately agreed to and.... what a blast! If the informal tour was such a great time, I imagine the proper tour would be top notch. We visited four craft breweries in the Chapinero neighborhood. Since I was staying in La Candelaria, this gave me the opportunity to see another area. All four of the cervecerias we visited were excellent. Each one a little bit different than the others. Tommy knew the owners/brew masters/bartenders at each place so we got treated extremely well. At stop 3, there was a food menu as well, so we all had some excellent tacos (falafel tacos!!)....much needed after all our beer. Since this was an informal tour, we walked from cerveceria to cerveceria. Given the traffic in Bogota, this was a definite plus! When the evening was over, Tommy was kind enough to hep me get an Uber back to my rental flat since my Uber app was malfunctioning. He waited until it arrived and made sure the driver knew where to take me. As I mentioned in the title, new friends were made as well. A lovely couple were also on the tour and I will be meeting up with them in the fall in their hometown of Vancouver. Tommy puts everyone at ease, and you immediately feel like you have known everyone for quite a long time. Tommy also will answer any questions about Bogota and Colombia and give recommendations and tips. Overall, a well worth doing evening. I highly recommend including Bogota Beer Tour on a trip to this wonderful city!!

We’ve been meaning to try this tour for years. Finally we went for it and found that they are under new management who are serious about creating a good experience by doing the following:
1. They were responsive to our pre tour questions.
2. The guide was there to receive us at the start with clearly marked branding so we didn’t have to go searching for her.
3. She spoke in both English and Spanish.
4. They are passionate and knowledgeable about the craft brewing scene in Colombia.
5. You’ll go to some very cool neighborhoods, you might not otherwise visit.
6. Most importantly, the beers you taste are a nice variety and sample of the craft beer scene in Colombia and their damn good.
7. The van is a new model that fits 8 comfortably.
The tour takes about 3-4 hours depending how fast your group drinks.
We’ll definitely be back with another group.

After reading all the 5 star reviews, my friends and I had very high expectations for the Bogotá Craft Beer Tour and were disappointed in our experience compared to the reviews.
If you want a pub hopping night in Bogotá and don't know much about beer, this tour is for you. If you want to learn about Colombian beer culture and check out the brewing scene, you will be disappointed. Please note, our complaints are not with the beers or breweries but with the tour company.
The first pub started us with two flights (and the sample glasses weren’t even nearly full) for the whole group (so 1 flight for every 5 people), we were sharing tiny sips with people we’d just met, followed by one pint of your choice (luckily, not shared). We aren't germaphobes and we don't mind sharing, but seemed pretty weird to us.
Andrea the guide was very friendly and helpfully bilingual; she told us a little about the history of fermented drinks in Colombia (like guapiña or chicha), but beyond that didn’t tell us much about the beers we were trying.
Madriguera Brewing was the highlight of the night - the owner was clearly very passionate about beer and their drafts were pretty interesting, especially the coconut porter. Again samples were shared, but this time one cup for two people, already an improvement over the first bar. Everyone on the tour was a couple but I could see this being weird if you were by yourself.
Our final stop was a Galeria Hopulus, a German brewer who didn’t offer have samples but described the four beers before we each selected a pint. As this is the only brewery actually making beer in Bogotá, we were promised a tour, but were unable to do so because the brewery had just been cleaned (weird), so we never saw anything about beer making on the tour at all.
As soon as we got in, the brewer mentioned that there would be a snack with our beers, and went around the table taking orders for arepas - without mentioning that those were not the snack included in the tour price. (the snacks were charred peppers they put on the table – which to be fair were pretty very good). He continued to try and up-sell the group food and made several mentions that we should have a second round of beers that we could drink in the lounge area, but again failed to mention that the second round is not included.
Overall:
• I don’t think this tour justified the high price (for Bogotá) - We got 2 shared flights, 3 pints, and a van ride which we could have easily walked. Given that beers in Bogota are typically about 15,000 COP (roughly $5 USD) the tour company is charging double that for not much extra.
• We didn’t learn much about how beer is made, or anything specific to Colombian beer. Even starting the tasting tour with a typical Colombian beer would have been nice for the sake of comparison and getting the conversation started.

Hi Amy,
We have just taken over this tour as the new partners with the original owners and founders of Bogota Craft Beer. Our goal is to take it back to the glory days and beyond! We love craft beer and sharing our knowledge of the brewing scene in Bogota with visitors and locals alike. We are two Aussie mates (Paddy and Trav) and have teamed up with original owners Simon and Tommy who are back in Australia but still enjoying the odd craft beer.
It was disturbing to read your review and the unacceptable service you received. How can we fix this? Needless to say, if you come back to Bogota you can join our new revised tour free of charge with carefully selected venues, ONE FLIGHT PER PERSON and we will hopefully knock your socks off with the quality of the beer and a real insight into the craft brewing scene in Bogota. Sharing sample beers with strangers is an absolute disgrace, it will not be happening on our watch.

This craft beer tour will take to about 4-5 local craft beer bars and/or breweries. Simon and Tommy have carefully curated a list of the best bars in town (as well as professional relationships with said bars)in order to treat guests to the busiest/ most interesting experiences possible each evening. The tour was not only interactive (some of our bilingual guests were asked to help translate for fun), but each bar offered a truly unique experience and proprietary drinks.

We are a group of five New Zealanders and went on a tour with Tommy (the owner) and Jennifer. Rated it as the best activity in Bogota. We visited an awesome range of breweries and pubs and Tommy and Jennifer were very knowledgeable - they were also an absolute blast to hang out with. We would recommend this to anyone (ThirstBat optional). Cheers!

The craft beer tour is new and organized by two Australians who have lived in Bogota for a while. We started with a national beer at the meeting point and proceeded to go to four bars/microbreweries. The group had a private van to transport between stops. We received several samples and a full beer at each stop, which made it a terrific value. At one stop we learned about the entire brewing process from the owner. Overall it wasn't a fantastic evening and the guide Tommy was awesome. This is a must do for beer lovers in Bogota.

We had the absolute best time on the craft beer tour! It was a small group, myself and my husband, and another couple. We opted to do the tour in Spanish which was nice practice. We visited two bars and one microbrewery. We didn’t know what to expect, but the beer we tried was surprisingly very good! Everyone we met on the tour was very passionate, including our guide, Gina. She was absolutely lovely...very knowledgeable about the beer and funny as well! You get 3 full size beers and loads of samples, so very good value. Also loved the freebies! Shoutout to Don Luis, master brewer, the absolute legend! :) Muchas gracias Gina!!

Can't miss tour of 3 of Bogota's craft breweries. We went to Mela's, Statua Rota, and El Mono Bandito. Great beers at all 3 locations and behind the scenes looks at how their artisanal beers are crafted.
Gina was our guide and she made it an enjoyable 4.5 hour experience. Knowledgeable and she spoke excellent English.
How can you go wrong for $27 bucks! Tapas at the first brewery, beers and tastings at all three breweries, transportation included, beers on the shuttle, and a snapback hat and bottle opener as parting gifts! Plus if you buy a beer at each of the breweries they give you a coupon for three more free beers at various breweries/events around town.
Do yourself a favor and book the tour. You won't regret it.

Where do I show up for beer tour? What do I look for? Is there an address I can direct a taxi to? Help!!
Written April 6, 2018
Once you register for the beer tour you will get an email telling you the location of the first stop. When I did the tour, the first brewery was very easy to get to by public transportation and then I ubered it home from the last stop.
