More
Artesania Sorata is a Fair Trade Bolivian pioneer enterprise producing alpaca/sheep's wool knitwear. For over 30 years they have been creating high quality knitwear and original textile art inspired by their daily lives and Aymara culture; creating a bond between traditions, culture and mother earth. Everything is made by hand, using natural dyes. The income generated enables artisans to provide a more nourishing diet for their families, better health care and greater educational opportunities.

This seems to be the only outlet for authentic 100% pure Alpaca sweaters, caps, gloves, etc. They employ indigenous workers to help them and create natural material with natural dyes. There are multitudes of "alpaca" dealers on the nearby streets, but they sell blends made...More

I discovered Sorata while I was living in 2012 in Bolivia, and it became my favoriteeee store (hands down) in la Paz. This past month I revisited and fell in love again with its pastel coloured tapestries depicting rural life; alpaca sweaters and mittens; and...More

What I like the most there is the only magazine specialized in the use of natural dyes! Pink comes from cochenille, blue from indigo, green from carrot leaves and so on. I love the concept! I bought an alpaca blanket and it was totally worth...More

There are tons of stores around the block claiming to sell "alpaca" or "llama wool". This store surely sells the REAL THING! And, it is dyed with all natural dyes. Most others in the area are a blend of who knows what? Let the unwary,...More

Shop looks like a nice boutique, but nothing to rave about to be honest. I asked the owner about the price of a product and he had to think a while for the price. 500 bolivianos for knitted painting? And it really goes to local...More
