The tapestries at Artesanía Sorata are absolutely incredible. Definitely one-of-a-kind pieces and worth visiting! Muchas gracias por todo. Esta obra es algo que siempre atesoraré.

In this shop you will find beautiful, handmade products that you won't find anywhere else in Latin America. All the items here have been handmade from start to finish, from the natural fibres spun into yarn that are then naturally dyed to make this beautiful clothes and handcrafts. When you shop here you know the money is going directly to the artisans themselves and helping local families. It is well worth a visit if you are in La Paz, you won't find anything else like it.

This seems to be the only outlet for authentic 100% pure Alpaca sweaters, caps, gloves, etc. They employ indigenous workers to help them and create natural material with natural dyes. There are multitudes of "alpaca" dealers on the nearby streets, but they sell blends made in factory operations, and are overpriced! This store sells the real deal. I was in yesterday and it is not my first time. Support this store and you not only support humanitarian socially responsible Owners, but you support the indigenous population on the Altiplano!

I discovered Sorata while I was living in 2012 in Bolivia, and it became my favoriteeee store (hands down) in la Paz. This past month I revisited and fell in love again with its pastel coloured tapestries depicting rural life; alpaca sweaters and mittens; and its collection of dolls inspired by the numerous dances this country has. The dolls were delicately made down to their tiny shoes, and the sales attendant took time to explain each dance and its significance in Bolivian life. The best thing is that items are produce by a cooperative of women, which the owner Diane leads. I met her finally during my last visit, what a treat! Make sure to make some time to visit this store during your trip, its right on calle Sagarnaga! You won't miss it
