one of the few natural areas remaining
Nov 2019
As it happened, I was given an surprisingly detailed tour by a friend who knew the arboretum very well.
There are an amazingly broad range of trees that are non-native, but have flourished there.

Good for Hiking
Feb 2020 • Couples
60 minutes is good to check out the grounds - 2 hours if you want a full hike. Family friendly, no dogs. Free.

Interesting park
Oct 2019
Interesting park if you are into botanics. An old house in the entrance, 2 panoramic points from where to take pictures and the possibility of hiking in the trails of the arboretum. Nice way to spend an afternoon. Free.

Arboretum Lussich-humble and inspiring
Mar 2019 • Business
At the verge of the twentieth century, against all odds and despite the verdict of the experts the arboretum became a reality.
The place is humble but the story is inspiring.
The Museum building has the touch of former times, like a lot of places in Uruguay.
The infrastructure needs to be improved and updated, ditto.
However, it's a site that cannot be ignored if you happen to be in the surroundings.

Disappointing
Feb 2019 • Couples
We were looking forward to having a nice walk in a botanical park, this place is just not set up for that. Small uninteresting museum in the pretty home of the late Mr Lussich. Park was disappointing as trails are rough and limited, it has nice trees, but very few are identified. No English written in museum, we did have a young lady who spoke English, but she was not familiar with the trees, she did answer some of our questions on the museum part.

200 exotic species and 80 native species in Uruguay’s main botanical resort

Arboretum Lussich was created by my great-grandfather’s brother Antonio Lussich in the early 20th century. The museum is his former house and all the history of how this piece of paradise came to be is shown inside. Lose yourself along the forest and enjoy views of the sea from the “glorieta” 350m walk from the main house. A must for young and old alike.

A nice museum and a very good arboretum
Oct 2018 • Friends
I was with a group, and we didn't have a lot of time there, but it was great. The owner was a ship owner who gave instructions to his captains to bring back every seed they could find, and since this is the perfect climate for temperate and semi-tropical plants, they all grew. Nice people, adequate English, very nice walks.

Nice stroll for a windy day
Jan 2018 • Family
This place is a lovely walk through trees brought from around the world 100 years ago. Access is free and there is also a small museum in the main house. The longest paths are more than 2 km out! Small children might get tired. There is a gazebo a short way out, the “Glorieta”, that has a weird accoustic effect when you talk in the center or around the edges of the dome.

A large park for those who want to walk and avoid the crowds of Punte del Este
Oct 2017 • Couples
This park was created by Sr. Lussich, who imported many trees and plants for his private garden park. There are lovely trails of different lengths. There are several excellent spots to view the city. We were there in early spring, so I cannot tell you what the flowering season will be like.

Great place for a quiet walk

Lots of trails to walk as long or short as you feel. Great views, beautiful trees and several good viewpoints.
