60 minutes is good to check out the grounds - 2 hours if you want a full hike. Family friendly, no dogs. Free.

We were looking forward to having a nice walk in a botanical park, this place is just not set up for that. Small uninteresting museum in the pretty home of the late Mr Lussich. Park was disappointing as trails are rough and limited, it has nice trees, but very few are identified. No English written in museum, we did have a young lady who spoke English, but she was not familiar with the trees, she did answer some of our questions on the museum part.

Arboretum Lussich was created by my great-grandfather’s brother Antonio Lussich in the early 20th century. The museum is his former house and all the history of how this piece of paradise came to be is shown inside. Lose yourself along the forest and enjoy views of the sea from the “glorieta” 350m walk from the main house. A must for young and old alike.

@$30 cab ride, so combine your trip up and back with the beach, a concert, seeing the plants, and down by the beach a nice early dinner, that is early by the standards of the natives, they eat late so most places will take early dinners w/o reservations. The bus also goes out the highway, you would climb the hill, remind the bus folks of where you want to get off, you can put your beat stuff in the bus baggage compartment, the free concert is outdoors so your chairs will come in handy.

This place is a hidden gem just off the main road several minutes drive from Punta del Este; the Great House is a museum of the life and times of the founder, Snr Lussitch, a maritime baron who conceived the impossible idea of creating a giant forest on a rocky rise above Punta Ballena..so said, so done.
A well produced15 minute video charts the history of the land and the man, and is a riveting testament to the vision and tenacity of an exceptional man who was far ahead of his time in respect of environmental conservation.
His great work is free to visitors, who may roam the park along well kept paths thru towering eucalyptus trees, with glimpses of distant Punta, the ocean, and the laguna
at every turn...simply stunning.
Dont miss the upper rooms of the Museum , which house a precious collection of stunning mosaic tile in every hue of blue..los azuelitos, or little blues, are beyond
beautiful.
Surreal history and gorgeous nature...a unique experience.

I've seen small parks better organized than this arboretum.
Just a bunch of trees thrown randomly without any thought or purpose
If you're not a "tree classificator", you'll probably be disappointed

Interesting park if you are into botanics. An old house in the entrance, 2 panoramic points from where to take pictures and the possibility of hiking in the trails of the arboretum. Nice way to spend an afternoon. Free.

This park was created by Sr. Lussich, who imported many trees and plants for his private garden park. There are lovely trails of different lengths. There are several excellent spots to view the city. We were there in early spring, so I cannot tell you what the flowering season will be like.

A wonderful place to place to walk for a few minutes or a few hours. There are many paths to choose from. Excellent views of the ocean in both directions from this hill on a peninsula. The plant life and variety of trees is extraordinary.

Suerte!
