We drove around the port of Punta del Este and wound up at the confluence of the Rio de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean. Very nice neighborhoods around there too.

Sea Lions arrive every morning to clean up the scraps from the fishing boats. Some huge specimens stay in the harbor all day and parade for tourists.

Nice visit, good food and good walking distance from other parts of the city. During the summer is hot, take water but you can always buy it around.

Nice port, not suitable to Barbour large cruise ships that are out of the port using smaller tender boats.Plenty of restaurants and remains of the naval battles between the German and British navy during the Second World War

All of the cruise ships anchor out, as there is no dock large enough for them. It is easy to get to a rental agency. We used Multicar. They have an office right in Punta.
