Lots of shopping, places to eat and some bars.. Clothing is expensive. Several ice cream shops. Lots of smaller shops to look at.
This summer season so many less people came from Argentina that Punta del Este looks kind of empty and, because of unfavourable exchange rate plus local high prices, there are many, really many, empty places for rent. Nevertheless, a walk for old times sake is enjoyable.
Avendia Gorlero is the main street on the peninsula. Very colourful, vibrant but sadly is not pedestrian only. Lots of shopping and restaurants and a pleasant way to walk from the cruise ship tender port to Playa Brava.
