I had a great riding experience on my first time at Al Wathba track. It’s safe, well maintained, ample car parking, a little shop for essentials, lots of distance options and a wide one way track which has excellent signage 😎 Stunning scenery to take in while you move those legs!! 🚴♂️

We had an amazing time as a family cycling in the very peaceful cycle track. The best part is that there is a shop renting bikes for 30 dhs per hour. They even had a tricycle for my little girl. The track is divided into 8 kms, 16 kms and 32 kms. Signs are clear, the place is so peaceful... As we went Friday around 2 the shop was closed and opened at 3.30. You can follow their instagram account to know the exact working hours . It is L’oxygène. It was a great experience 😊

A fantastic facility for Abu Dhabi riders. I have been twice now. My first trip was in the evening so it was dark. Most of the track is lit with solar lighting but I found when I did the 20km look the mid section had no lighting, so I was relying only on my lights. I did feel quite vulnerable out there as I was riding alone, there were only a couple of other cars in the carpark, and there are no emergency phones on the track. My second visit was in the day time so I had the confidence to try the 30km loop which has a few small hills. I didn't see any other riders, but I did find a camel on the track near a section where the fencing had fallen down.
A very clever design allowing for short rides, or longer distances by piecing loops together. Each distance is clearly signposted. It would be nice to have more signage leading to the site; I was driving down a road that was labelled 'private', and was a bit unsure if that was the right was to go, but didn't see an alternative.
Toilets, showers, convenience store and bike shop round out the provisions nicely. Wish it was a little closer to the city, but worth the drive for an occasional ride. I would imagine this also helps keep the crowds away, especially with the new track at Al Hudayriat.

No sign posts, google maps tried to send us down sand tracks that were too difficult for my car and when we eventually found it, the bike rental shop was closed all day. I would like to try again to do this cycle at sunrise but I can't find any information about the bike rental shop online so can never be sure if its open.

The bicycle track is situated in Al Wathba and is about 42 km from downtown Abu Dhabi towards Al Ain road. The track has three circuits: 8 km, 16 km and 32 km there are signs showing the distances and is well lit. There is an ADNOC Oasis convenience store and a bicycle shop. It is missing first aid facility as the last time we visited one man had a nasty fall and it took a while to get the ambulance to arrive.

Al Wathba is about 40 minutes drive from downtown Abu Dhabi. It is a purpose built cycling track for the those who wish to ride in safety and without the fog of car fumes. The facilities are excellent with a 24/7 cafe (Cheap coffee) and a bike shop which will rent out bike for you very cheaply (30dhs per hour). Well worth a visit when the days are cooler or early/late in the day.
The loop can give you lots of option for distance and the elevation is not at all challenging (If you haven't exercised in 10 years, then its all relative). The loops goes from 30km,24km,20km,18km,16km,12km and 8km.
The only negative is that on the for the first and last stretch of the track can sometimes have a strong crosswind that will leave you out of breathe and battling for a few kms.

Great track. Awesome facilities. I love that there's a bicycle shop and a little adnoc oasis in case you need something cold. The route itself is beautiful. Away from all the air pollution and it's very quiet and safe late at night when you trying to get in some training after work. Something I would do weekly.

Rent a bike at 30 dirhams at one hour
Or
Bring your own.
Bike shop open from 3.30 pm to 10 pm on weekdays and from 6.30 am to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday
Open 24 hours for those who have their own bikes .
A nice getaway from the city to just cycle away surrounded by desert dunes. Well paved, well lit, bathroom, shower and convenience store on site.
Probably not suited for elderly and young kids
