I got there around 12 pm and was surprised to know I needed passport to get in. Where else in the world do people have to leave their most important document in order to enter a museum? The woman at the reception didn't want to take my hotel card instead, which is fine, but she didn't inform me that the... More

It was adventure in itself to locate the Centre. The taxi driver stopped 6 times before finally locating the centre even though he reassured our Concierge that he knew where he was going. Once we finally arrived we were very surprised at the activities being done. We witnessed women making mats, falcon leads, sewing, embroidery and traditional decoration of dress.... More

The Women's Handicrafts Center is a very interesting place to visit. It is located at the end of Karama St not far from the embassy district. I recommend printing off a map of the area or directions before going. We used google maps and found the handicrafts center without a problem. There is plenty of street parking in this area... More

There was almost nothing to see and we didn't feel welcome at all! Not even worth paying the 5 AED entrance fee. A total waste of time!

The Women's Handicrafts Centre is a fair distance from downtown Abu Dhabi and really can only be accessed by taxi or private car (make sure you have GPS). At first you'll wonder where you've arrived - the Centre is buried in a large complex devoted to social services. Enter through the reception area and first make your way to the... More

I visited with my husband, I found it to be very interesting and the ladies were lovely. It surprised me how much work went into some of the crafts. Seeing Abu Dhabi before it became the metropolis it is today was quite something. Great cultural education.

Various workshops with women involved in making traditional Emirati handicraft, a small museum and boutique. An interesting way of promoting country's folk-art heritage. To get here, follow Al Karamah St until it deadends at the General Women's Union. Most taxis don't know this attraction, check before hopping on!

We found this attraction quite by chance and it was really an adventure to find it, even the taxi driver couldn't easily find it and the door keeper couldn't tell us what he is actually keeping. Anyway after finding it (tell the taxi driver he should drive to immigration office and then drive to Karama St) and have a pass... More

There are several government run branches with connections to the Abu Dhabi Women's Association ( which often has local exhibitions )too of traditionally made handicrafts on display and for selling to raise money for charity. You can find a center off Airport Road, then there is one next to the Cultural Foundation which is also next to/within Qasr Al Hosn... More
