Beautiful place. Plan to spend 1-2 hours enjoying this place. Several small shops to buy souvenirs from, some benches to enjoy the park area, open beach area to take pictures of the city skyline. Small parking lot available.

The Heritage Center gives you an idea of what life was like for the people prior to oil boom and subsequent modernization. Individual rooms show case various skills such as glass blowing, sailboat making, wood carving- only the latter was actually working the day we visited. All items are for sale. At the other end of the village is a market where women are selling the same souvenirs we saw in the souls in Dubai but without the bartering. Adjacent to this market are camels to pose with for a photo and a very small archeology museum. The best part is the sandy pathway leading to the water front beach. The view of Skyscrapers is pretty but second to Dubai. Don’t go out of your way to visit if time is limited.

Heritage village is a fun way to spend a couple hours. As you enter the main gate to the left is an area set up to resemble life in the past in the desert. You will see a home similar to what was used in the past. There is also a camel who obligingly lets visitors have a ride. There is a row of souks selling quite a variety of merchandise as well. There is a museum of relics from the past. There is a beach with a great view of modern Abu Dhabi across the water. There are other live animals in stables for the children to enjoy. My favorite area is where craftsmen demonstrate their craft and have many lovely items for sale as well. There is leather craft, beautiful bags and other items, a glass blower, a weaver, a potter. Very interesting!

small exhibition area trying to preserve this history and arts, crafts and traditions of the emirates before destroyed by the massive oil wealth. Most exhibits were closed and was also a couple of small museums with semi-random poorly labelled displays on the history. There was a few tourist souvenir stalls that were the main activity for the bus loads of selfie-taking tourists turning up. wasnt worth the time and effort to get here. If you are staging thru Abu Dhabi airport and need to spend a day in town then one of theme park on Yas Island already near the theme park would be a better use of your time

This must be the fifth time I’ve visited the Heritage Village and each time is interesting. Be sure to view the pictures in the museum, such a change in the area over a short span of time. Beautiful views and once we were lucky enough to see the wooden boats racing. And it’s free.

This is a must too when you visit Abu Dhabi. This place has a number of things to do. First, shopping. Things are way cheaper here compare to Dubai. You can even negotiate the price. Camel ride is available here too. Next, the museum. Showcasing of numerous stuffs are here. Next, traditional handicrafts centre. What people were doing before the modernise UAE is here. Wood carving, leather making, carpet making, pottery and many more is available here for us to see live. It’s a place that tourist must check it out.

We visited this place without a tour and that was totally OK. People were really friendly and helpful.
Note however:
- Bring your own water, there is none for sale.
- There are tourist souvenir stands, which were rather inexpensive, compared to other places we saw, BUT only cash payment.
- There is no taxi stand in front of this place. And there were people offering us "private rides" which looked a bit like scam. Make sure to have a taxi number to call or walk to the nearby mall (about 15 mins).

A collection of buildings housing historical articles about the Abu Dhabi and the emirates. Nicely laid out, telling the story of the village life as it was before the modern skyscrappers crowded the city. Free to enter, a must see if you are visiting Abu Dhabi

The Heritage Village was built in 1997 and is really showing it's age. Worth a visit only if you have time to kill...and if the weather outside is pleasant. Went in mid-September and it was a mandatory stop on the tour. Given a choice, would have skipped it. With the heat and humidity, the 15 minute photostop was 15 minutes too long. Even the people working there looked like they wanted to leave and would if they could.

Getting there and out was longer than the visit itself. Would have preferred a longer stop somewhere else. I would imagine tour operators are under some pressure to show off this place? It was free entry when we went...so one wonders what funds the upkeep and how can any improvements be made if there is no revenue.

If it's part of a tour you booked...15 minutes is truly enough. But if travelling independently, it's not worth the taxi fare. Skip it.

This seems to be a stop off for every tour group in the city. The tiny parking lot was crowded with large tour buses (there is no official bus parking anywhere) and small tours in big, poorly parked land cruisers. It was hard to find parking for this venue to start with.

Our entrance today was free, which was a lovely surprise. Unfortunately, many of the buildings were closed (people on lunch?) and the other buildings were crowded with tourists. There seemed to be no employees around to explain anything. I wish there were more signs / interactive displays / demonstrations demonstrating life in the UAE during the time that this village would have stood.

The “shopping” area is full of imported crap, some of which isn’t even for Abu Dhabi. There are items with Doha, Qatar on it and some with Dubai.

Overall, I would say you could skip this place.
