We can tick the box and claim that we have experienced a 7 star hotel/meal. We didn't stay there. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in a suite. The process of getting thru security and the gates was frustrating. We had dinner at Al Muntaha. My wife and I had appetizers/salads, and the 900g waygu beef for two and a very expensive bottle of wine. Our beef , which is supposedly a flagship meal was served cool. Not cold but not hot either. When we complained to the wait staff, they incredulously lost their ability to understand English. We will never go back there. We had several marvelous dinners in Dubai and for the money, it is not even close to decent value. When we dined, there were many Russians in town because it was around the May Day holiday. Several were in the restaurant. They were loud and even though jackets are required, they didn't come properly attired. The restaurant has jackets but several just hung them on their chairs as a statement. Overall experience was poor. The meal was badly presented. The environment not justifiable.

Burg Al Arab is everything a '7 star' hotel should be, I will only give it a 5 star rating though... The first thing that greets you after going through 2 levels of security and an inspection of your reservation memo, is a forecourt adorned with white Rolls Royce's, Bugattis and Lambo's. People are there to wait on you hand and foot. We dinned at the Al Muntaha Restaurant on the 27th floor and and were impressed by the service, food and an endless (but rather expensive ) wine list. Unfortunately there is no cocktail lounge for you to wait in if you are early unless you prebook a table in the Sky View bar at $75 per person minimum charge. We had a wonderful evening and were impressed by the lavish decore and were not hurried in any manor. My advice to anyone going there enjoy the food and wine and dont worry about the bill, enjoy the experience.
