We spent a night at a camp site in Khor Al Udeid. The camp site had air-conditioned tents with very clean bathrooms and showers but we ended up sleeping outside on wooden beds near the beach as there was a cool breeze in the air and the desert sky was too beautiful to miss after swimming in the water. We... More

If markets are as much local colour that you require, let me suggest a diversion... a one hour drive from the downtown glitz of gleaminf skyscrapers, wealthy suburbias and then ... desert... unlimited desert . But for our purposes we drive past the heavy earth moving infrastructure leaving this permenant construction site for the desert with just plain sand.... no... More

We love going to Khor Al Udeid, whether camping or just for a day. Soaking up the sun, lazing in the water, it's as good as going on a short vacation to recharge one's batteries. To wake up next to the beach, the water gently lapping, fish playing in the water, pure bliss!!

This beach, commonly known as Sealine Beach is a totally empty, very long stretch of beach with very warm sea in front and massive sand dunes behind. 4 x 4's come there for families to enjoy a picnic just metres from the sea but there were not many people there. The only negative is that, as the beach is not... More

We did this to go out and see the sand dunes and camels and when in Qatar do as the locals do so we rode a few camels. We thought it was good cake at $20 AED for each camel. And then there were lots of motor bikes quad bikes to ride the dunes on as well. Well worth the... More

A visit to the inland sea is an unforgettable day out. If you can, try and book a tour which lets you do some of the driving (if you like that sort of thing). There is no rush quite like speeding across the desert with locals in their 4x4's flying past you on either side. What a great day out.

The Khor Al Udeid is referred to commonly as "Inland Sea" in Qatar. It is located at the southern end of Qatar and - in some places- marks the actual border between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The Inland Sea gets his name from its unique landscape. It's essentially a Fjord-style connection between the Arabian Gulf and a large area of... More
