A good place to visit if you enjoy seeing dead fish and the smell of them. You certainly get the local atmosphere in more ways than one, it is worth a visit!

This is absolutely one of the best thing to do in Muscat. The fish market is.something amazing and very interesting. Go in the morning to see any kind of fish, people bargain with sellers and real life! You will love it

this one is a bit different

first of all: it's remarkably clean. Huge stainless steel bins on top of ice that keep the fish fresh. And lots of fish there is. Unfortunately we could also see the endangered yellow fin tuna quite a bit. Vendors were friendly, often colorfully dressed and didn't mind our picture taking.

Interesting place/ must see.

Covers a large indoor area with the traders putting on display a variety of fishes, small, big, enormous, different types of shellfish, lobsters galore. It’s the Fish market which the locals speak highly of. Also on sale were other items such as sea salt, spices and vegetables too. Not far from the souk market. Plenty of parking spaces nearby harbour.

Large Market selling fish meat etc.
Apr 2018 • Couples
Could not get over how clean this market was which sold fish, meat, vegetables etc and was very busy. Building appears fairly new and modern with floor being cleaned regularly and washed out. Right on the waters edge but ocean water extremely clear and clean.

Great selection of freshly caught local fish
May 2018 • Friends
Some may decry the change from the old market, which definitely had more character and atmosphere, but for the actual shopping experience the new market is a much nicer trip. There is a wide selection of freshly caught fish and prawns, and the prices are very reasonable (particularly if you like tuna!)

Very near the souq so worth making a visit. Plenty of fish and a taste of local life. They are used to seeing tourists walking around so not an issue visiting.

Local Culture
Jan 2016 • Friends
This is an amazing fish market. Fresh fish arrive daily. It does not smell fishy due to the fish being so fresh. You should ask before taking photos as some do not want their photos taken.
This is perfect to check out the local culture. Be sure to dress properly and wear the right shoes as the ground is wet.

Fish like you have never seen
Nov 2016 • Family
I am not one to visit fish markets, as I have seen many in my time. Plus I don't really like them, because it's wet and smelly. But to appease my dad who likes such places we went.

If you are a fish lover, then this is probably one of the best fish markets I have ever been to. The amount of fish and variety was phenomenal. They had dorado, again my knowledge of types of fish isn't grand. But my dad hadn't seen dorado in years, and I'd never seen a dorado at all.

The fish was so fresh that the scales were still glowing and shiny. There was lots of tuna and tiger prawns.

If I were to live in Oman I'd be going to the fish market everyday for fresh fish. There is a lot of hussle and bustle, it is wet and smelly. But there is a lot of personality and vibrancy. It's an eye opener.
