This disused look-out is a short distance from Muttrah bazaar and is accessed from behind a derelict cafe. Park in the cafe car park and go behind the old cafe to access the steep steps (hundreds of them) to climb to the top. Views from here are fantastic and look out over the harbour and inland to the park. Worth the climb.

Walk past Mattrah Souk, down the corniche until you've reached Al Riyam park where there you'll find the pearl on top of a mountain and two forts on different mountains.
The only fort accessible to public is the watch tower. Walk up the watchtower, be careful because the stops are steep, until you reached the top and see ancient cannons.
One is instantly transferred back in time. It has great views if the ocean, and Old Muscat. Great photo opportunity here.

It looks really charming standing watch over the lovely old Muscat city (Muttrah) but I believe its not open to the public (the door of the stairs leading up was locked). It looks lovely at night with its lights on and is a good subject for photography. Its easily visible from the corniche.

This is a small tower opposite the Riyam Park. The Riyam Park incense burner is visible from here. My friends from my photography group and I had visited this place during one of our first photo walks. Nice place to see 2 canons near Muttrah and capture few good pictures.

Very plain and straight-forward. It was made to watch and help protected the the port. Good stair climb opportunity. Nice views from the top of the stairs. The canons inside add that touch of authenticity. Helps you see the lay of the land. Not a "must see" but a nice diversion from eating and close to souk.

This is one of the rarest watch towers which has a incense burner shape rather than a tower. This stands tall in the premises of Riyam park facing the Mutrah souq or corniche. Nice place for few good pics. Keep in mind that entry to top is restricted

The tower itself is not so interesting.
What is more interesting is going up and have a wonderful panorama of the vicinity, especially the sea.

The beautiful sea on one side & the street on the other. A must visit for those who like to witness sunrise or sunset.

The place is located at corniche near Riyam Park. Well maintained. There are steps to climb & ample parking space near the tower.
