The facilities at the dam were a surprise. While we expected top-shelf engineering, we didn’t expect an idyllic weekend outing destination for families. There were gardens, picnic areas, coffee shops and visitors’ centre and all in the most spectacular setting of a lake at the base of gargantuan mountains. We spent more time here than we thought we would.

I liked the place as:

1. Well maintained picnic spot.
2. Nice view.
3. Climate was fantastic

Some things which needs to be looked into:

1. costs for boating should be made more cheap.
2. Provisions for restaurant to be made.

I liked the place as:

1. Well-maintained picnic spot.
2. Nice view.

A quiet spot, 20 km off the main road, this picnic location has some breathtaking views.
The park around the dam is very clean and has many sitting areas.

The location is tranquil with nice views - it has good facilities for basic water sports BUT the cafe is awful! Really poor quality.- don’t bother!!!! Sadly the toilets were unclean with no toilet roll. Such a shame the most isn’t being made of this attraction.

Popped over enroute to Bimmah Sink Hole. Check out my review.

Nice drive up. First one there on a Sunday morning about 0900. Good views over the water from the dam wall. Visiter Centre, not open or did I not spot it? Water activities not open, not sure why. Toilets so so. Worth gping to enroute to somewhere else but for no other reason.

A quiet spot, 20KM off the main road, this picnic location has some breathtaking views. There's a simple restaurant, several park benches, and toilets. It's possible to walk over the top of the dam for a part of the distance and get views of the valleys below. Excellent choice for a weekend lunch picnic.

The Quriyat dam offers breathtaking views, right from the journey till you reach the top of the viewing point. Covered with misty mighty mountains you will really enjoy the journey towards the dam and then the view from the dam is extremely awesome. There is a park equipped with restrooms and shelters adjacent to the dam.The right time to visit the place is in winter when you can enjoy the weather, going there during the rains may not be a wise thing to do as the drive may be dangerous. Carry enough stuff to eat/drink as there no shops in the vicinity.

I usually make a stopover at the Mazara Dam when driving to Wadi Arbiyeen. It is a convenient place to make a snack-and-coffee break while admiring the magnificent dam and beautiful turquoise water swarming with fish. However, the place is overcrowded and quite hot most of the year, and there is nothing more to be offered to a curious Western tourist.

However, maybe just 2 kms further, there is a village with a lovely little castle atop of a steep ridge overlooking the always flowing Wadi Dayqah. Sadly, nobody seems interested to preserve this lovely little piece of Omani history. Every year its condition is more miserable and soon there will be nothing to restore. And if properly restored and managed, this castle could be a nice little B&B (definitely needed all over Oman) and even bring some extra income to the locals.

If you are planning to visit this place GPS Navigation is advised.
The road is ok and signs are there but still I advised everybody to use Navigators.
2nd thing is to visit the dam in morning time.
Roads are ok,and sedan car can reach there smoothly.
It is very calm place and there is a cafeteria for soft drinks.
