We booked a tour with Mutrah Hotel and had a terrible experience. The tour started with a dirty dodge vehicle with children's toys, pillows, a dirty towel, and crisp wrappers in the back. The tour did not come with a professional english speaking tour guide, our driver spoke poor english, did not know any facts, couldn't give us any details about the sights we saw, when was this fort built? Who built this fort? His answer was Very long time ago, the Omanis?? This carried on for the whole day. The tour was very unorganised with us missing the fort because it was closed when we got there, even though the itinerary stated that we would view it. There were a number of sections in the itinerary that were not visited and we received no lunch nor water throughout the day even though the tour stated that we would. Upon bringing this up with the management, they did little to compensate us, telling us that they haven't had a complaint before, and thought we were making it up!! We are in the process of writing to the Ministry of Tourism and this post is to warn others of their dodgy tour agency. Avoid this company at all expense as they will take your money and give you very little in return. This experience has ruined our Muscat trip, which is a shame as the country is lovely. Don't do business with Mutrah Hotel Tour Company.

My son and I got an opportunity to take a tour combined with accommodation facilities with Mutrah Hotel Tour Company and I happily say that we returned satisfied with everything. I don’t if was the normal course or the not, we found the hosts including guide very friendly and co-operative. The accommodation was perfect. Our room was spacious, my son loved their interiors. While out on tour we found our guide very knowledgeable, he explained things beautifully. Fortunately we did not have any problem in the understanding his English, not the clear but we could make out well. All things put together we got more than our expectation. The price was well deserved so I would call it a nice hotel and lovely touring experience.
